President Biden Dropping Out of Race

AOC is onboard with Harris.

NM, maybe off topic

Nice! We are showing party unity, and it’s heartening.

Unless you have some basis to believe either of these are realistic assertions, they verge on trolling. They are also a hijack to a serious discussion. Bring cites or drop these comments.

And AOC is being joined by a Nikki Haley PAC. Sounds like support is picking up.

Nikki Haley Voter’s PAC announce support for Kamala - Newsweek

MSNBC reporting now that four states have already thrown all of their delegates behind Harris and that her campaign has raised 30 million dollars since Biden’s announcement. .

Whoa, sweet. We’re gonna crush!

More great news.

What actually has to happen for the states decide to throw all their delegates behind Harris? Do all the delegates of that state get together and vote? Is there a party leader for that state who decides? Or something else?

Looking at the news it appears that via telephone calls, all off the delegates have pledged to support Harris, at least in Tennessee and North Carolina.

I think they want to be able to have the virtual nomination before August 7 to ensure the Ohio ballot.

Meanwhile, fundraising now more than $47 million in past 8 hours.

I know that’s what they were planning to do, but the Ohio ballot is no longer an issue since the state legislature pushed the certification deadline back to September 1. The DNC was planning to go ahead with the virtual ballot anyway, but it is unnecessary.

Good question.

Maybe they tried calling delegates, but surely some are on vacation where there is no cell service.

IIRC the intent is to go ahead with it just in case the Republicans in Ohio decide to pull a “FOOLED YOU!” and rescind the amended law.

I know, but Mike DeWine wouldn’t put up with that. He’s the one who made them come back in a special session to fix the deadline.

Yes, they are not going to vote Trump in any meaningful way, they are just not going to vote. I’ve gone into the reasons why before but I’ll try to do a quick summary here.

Basically, a decent amount of Black people under about 50 (I’m 52 so older and see it differently) feel that the Democrats have not done enough even though Black people are kind of the base.

Some specific issues are a hate crime bill, repreparations and yes immigration.

So they are thinking it doesn’t really matter for whom or even if they vote and that things won’t really change, no better no worse, for them under Trump and maga.

It’s kind of shortsighted and I totally disagree but this is where we are, and the polls are showing this.

It’s not me saying it’s true.

From what I read last night, this is kind of the issue; apparently, the law that the Ohio Legislature passed only goes into effect on September 1st, so some Democrats are leery of there being some shenanigans afoot.

WAPO has a tracker for support on Harris. It’s currently 159-1 (1 voting for an open convention- Lloyd Dogget, Austin TX)

It’s not free, sorry. I’ll try to find gift link.

FTR: It’s currently a very short article (to be updated) and shows up fine without a gift link. Thanks for posting!

Please-subscribe box showed up for me, no way to dismiss.

EDIT: for some reason I was signed into WAPO. I signed out and now I can read the article. Weird.

very off topic post, don't reply

Methinks that with an assurance of immunity from prosecution as ex POTUS and a couple of billion as a nice retirement nest egg, Trump could be incentivised to drop out.
