The scene where they start out dancing in a crowded room and then they’re dancing all alone - I’m trying to find it; I thought it was a classical piece, but some of the stuff I found suggests it was written for the movie?
according to IMDb:
Letter to Henry Purcell (or Postcard to Henry Purcell)
(uncredited)
Written by Dario Marianelli
Performed by Jean-Yves Thibaudet
[Plays as Lizzy and Darcy dance]
it’s Henry Purcell’s Rondeau from Abdelazer. You can hear it here:
It may have been arranged by Marianelli, but it was written by Purcell.
Well, that explains why it sounded so familiar when I watched the movie. Are IMDb credits usually this… vague?
God damn it, I actually knew this! It’s one of my favorite scenes.
