Pro-Russians in Ukraine demand Jews register or be deported

Speaking of false flag operations, every time I give in and read news article comments i’m convinced they are trolls trying to bring people to the opposite side. I was on the fence before reading the comments, but the “this was actual antisemitism” posters have convinced me it was a false flag operation :dubious:

I suspect this story was true in the sense that some clowns did spread around these pamphlets but since while Jews face widespread anti-Semitism in both Russia and the Ukraine, Putin isn’t treating them like they’re Chechens, I don’t think that anytime soon we’re going to ethnic cleansing of the Jews of the Ukraine.

Terrorizing and extorting Jews is funny now? I missed that definition of gullible. Perhaps you have a cite?

We have the word of armed separatists who seized the headquarters of the regional government that “durrrr, we got nutin’ to do with it!”

Maybe, maybe not.

Given the amount of finger-pointing by both sides accusing each other of being crypto-Nazis, and given how blatant the connection between Jewish registration and Naziism, at this point in time I’m willing to take the Moscow-funded balaclava-wearing thugs at their word on this issue.

The leaflet really couldn’t be more badly timed or anymore evocative if it tried - and then it’s handed out randomly outside a single synagogue by we know not whom.

And they’re paying money and whatnow, to who?

And no one knows where it came from. Umm, yeah - we have indeed been here before many times. But not in the way the producers of this bullshit leaflet would like people to think.

Ultimately it’s your US tax dollars at work, folks

An analogous situation would be someone turning up outside a black church in Mississippi claiming to represent their local Democratic candidate and handing them leaflets telling them to set up kerosene-soaked crosses in their yards and to stock up on hanging-ropes. Maybe the local democrat really was responsible, but probably not.

Well, kind of. The context here is John Kerry pushing the extremely unwilling Ukranian army eastwards.

When that utterly failed stuff like this - which was intended to help validate that push east - became pointless and potentially embarrassing. Too late for this particular tomfoolery though.

I was reading a book about Ukraine during WWII, can’t remember which one, and it said that the Russians under Stalin made a big deal about how everyone else was anti-semitic but their communist utopia was the one place where Jews could live freely and equally like everyone else. But of course it was Jews who were one of their main targets for extermination in Ukraine and elsewhere.

I don’t know if these guys have some strange definition of anti-semitic that we’re not privy to, or if they have some kind of “what makes a real Jew” account, or what, but it’s strange.

Saying Eastern Europe is tainted by antisemitism is like saying Australia is tainted by marsupials.

At least this time around Jews have some place to flee to.

But seemingly, the US Secretaryof State believed every word, not too reassuring for the public who rely on him for policy decisions and ultra-sound judgement:

You could almost think it was a bog standard US fit up …

Are you fucking serious?

This may be a disinformation plan to smear pro-Russian supporters in Ukraine. After all, why would they risk a confrontation with a group with they would have to have at least civil public relations to avoid EU sanctions?

Methinks that the CIA,the Mossad and MI-6 might have a hand in some of this…

Its a poster some idiot stuck on a lightpole, not a statement by any person in authority.

We have people in the US who say worse all the time.

Unlike some Jews, I don’t hop to every time there’s a “Holocaust is imminent!” dogwhistle. Middle aged American Jews are so predictable. Think about who your panic serves. (hint: someone who wants America to sign on for an invasion).

It is not that hard to believe that the pro-Russian contingent in Eastern Ukraine are anti-semitic. See, for example, The New Antisemite: March 2014

In the video attached, a speaker at the pro-Russian rally claims that the events in Kiev are a “Zionist revolution”, and claims that Timoshenko, Tyagnibok (LOL) and Yatsenyuk are Jews. And the crowd loves it.

Yeah, because anti-Semitism is completely out of character coming from Russian nationalists :dubious:.

And racism is hardly out of character for white southern baptists. What’s your point?

The point is not whether there is any antisemitism in the Ukraine (yes; btw we have antisemitism in the US as well) but whether there is any proof it is becoming an official policy of the Ukrainian government (none whatsoever).

I think you completely misunderstood the OP incident. Read it again.

Anti-semitism has a much, much longer history in Russia and Ukraine and it was a hell of a lot worse over there. What’s the more likely scenario? Remember, horses not zebras.

The most likely scenario is that Russia drums up enough American support for their planned invasion that they go ahead and do it with the blessing of the all-important “easily influenced Boomer Jews of America” vote.
