10 is good for me. Probably best would be to meet outside the gates at around 10. Maybe 10-15 minutes earlier? That way we could gather up. One of us can make an SDMB sign (too bad The Sign couldn’t be with us, but I understand it’s still in Texas). Then we could wait outside for a little longer to see who else might come a little later. We can work all that out, though.
Small thought…maybe we could get Baglady to send us some of the Dopefest “Putz” pins? We could maybe see if they will give them out at the gate for people who ask for them? That way if somebody came after we were all inside, we could all spot each other by the pins.
I love Ren fests (know several folks who oprobably still work the Largo one).
I have been needing an excuse to visit folks in the Tampa Bay area.
I have a major install the week before, so that weekend will be clear.
I also have a pregnant wife and a very sick dog.
But if they cooperate, I would love to quaff a Guinness with some dopers.
The tickets are bought, arrangements for when and where to meet are being made. It looks like this thing is definitely going to be a go! I’m still SOOO excited! I can’t wait to meet people! (Just want to keep this in people’s minds… it’s only a month away, it’s only a month away! ) This is going to be so much FUN!

Hey, can someone from the area send me directions, particularly if there is a lot of construction and detours in the area? I’d hate to get there late because of a major detour.
I don’t know about construction… I don’t THINK there’s any there, but I’ll check with some of my friends from the area to see if they know about any. I’ll send you the directions when I look them up for myself (it’s been far too long since I’ve been there myself) Which direction are you coming from??

I will be driving in from Orlando via I-4. I don’t have a map in front of me, but I believe I need to take 275 North to Largo? I’ll double check it later.
I ask about construction because of a dumbhead stunt I pulled this morning: for two weeks there has been a flashing electronic sign - “Princeton (Street) Closed At RR Xing - 2/12/00 To 2/16/00”. Okay fine, I make a mental note to use one of my 34 alternate routes to work (Princteon is my main one).
Lo and behold, guess who forgets and tries to travel down Princeton and gets stuck in traffic for 1/2 hour trying to turn left onto Orange Avenue with all the other dumbheads who forgot that Princeton was closed at the RR Xing? ME!
I gotta figure a better way of making sure mental notes don’t get misfiled.
UncleBill e-mailed me last week and said he wouldn’t be able to make it. The rest seem to match with mine… And I may have as many as 5 non-Dopers… Or, if my plan works, Doper-newbies! It’s sometimes difficult trying to get people to do things that are for their own good…

Actually, it would be 275 S to Largo. Most likely, the Roosevelt exit (please don’t ask exit numbers, I’m horrid with those things!) I used to come over to St Pete/Clearwater from Lakeland, so that part of the route, I know… I’m going to be coming from Tampa from that weekend, so I can probably get you there without a problem… If I can find out what the damn address of this place is so I can check it through MapQuest. Ever freakin’ site I go to has a different address. I guess I’m going to have to call the office and find out directions… I hate making phone calls…

Okay, I’m a dope (oops, a pun). If you go to one of the sites I posted you can click on the map-blast icon and it’ll give you a map of the area. You can zoom out to get a better idea how to get there.
Anyway, I called the Ren Fest office. She’s faxing me over directions now. Anyone that wants them, e-mail me and I’ll get them out to you as soon as I can. (They’ll be coming from the North, if you want to come from the South, I can make appropriate changes) Won’t be able to access my home e-mail until tonight, though, and that’s the addy I have set up here. But, there’s still plenty of time (though I wish it was MUCH sooner! )
Also,I found out that if you pre-order tickets, they are only $10.50 for adults, $3.50 for kids, with a $1 service charge (though the website says $1.50) instead of $12.95/$5.95. Cut off for that is March 5th or 6th. Might be worth looking into. Probably what I’ll do for mine… every little penny counts!
