Problem with IE 6.0

Hi all, I am using windows ME and recently started to have a problem with explorer. Whenever I try to access a search engine on a webpage (not ones like google but ones like on this page) Explorer shuts down. I have reinstalled the java console, but that didn’t help. Can anyone help with this.

Thanks in advance

Try reinstalling ie6.0 via the Add/Remove programs option from the control panel. I believe it will allow you to repair the installation.

Dunno if it will fix the problem, but it’s something to try.

That was going to be my last resort, I was hoping for a less time consuming fix but I guess not.

For what it’s worth, you could always try the best browser on the planet: (Opera). How does up to 50 pages at once sound?

Yeah, Opera is a great browser… but 50 pages?? My Opera 6 won’t let me get beyond 13 or 14 before giving me a message that “the system is running low on resources”. That’s with 100 MB of free RAM. Am i doing something wrong?
Sorry to hijack your thread, Count.

I dunno. I’ve never really tried to get beyond 13 or 14 myself, although I’ve never had a warning message. I think most folk are happy with a maximum of maybe 10 pages. But the PREFERENCES section in 5.0 offered up to 50. In fact I seem to remember an ad threatening me with thousands. Maybe the browser is technically capable of that if it’s on the right machine. I only got 6.0 yesterday and the PREFs box has changed so I’m a bit lost.

I have 3846MB free. Maybe your system doesn’t have much memory, or maybe I’m reading the wrong line. Does 3.84GB sound like a drastic misreading to anyone? Have I got my ROMs and RAMs confused?
Anyway Opera is still totally the best :).
