Up until today, whenever I plugged in our digital camera into the USB port, a Windows Wizards would open and with the click of a few buttons, the pictures would be moved and/or copied into which ever directory I chose.
It’s not doing that today. I tried rebooting. Is there a way to make that option come back?
Thanks in advance.
This sounds bizarre, but I’ve seen some references to this on some other forums. The answer, it would appear, is to uninstall the latest version of RealPlayer! Have you recently installed RealPlayer? If so, it’s high on the list of suspects.
Instead of using RealPlayer, use Real Alternative, available here, among other places.
I also stumbled onto a routine that claims to be able to repair these kinds of auto-run errors. You can download it from here.
Last but not least, you might simply return to a Restore Point on your PC from yesterday (Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, and then choose the option to restore your system to the state it was in yesterday). This won’t wipe out things like files you’ve created since yesterday or mail you’ve received. It will only restore the system settings to their earlier condition.
