Profanity in Songs

I can’t listen to this song. It breaks my heart so much I cry.

When I used to be a cubical prairie dog at an accounting firm, I’d listen to Rage Against The Machine’s version of Pistol Grip Pump in my headphones and feel all subversive.

If it’s any consolation the YouTube link is broken.

The Tragically Hip, Canada’s national band, seem to have an exception where they can drop profanity without being censored. “At the Hundredth Meridian” contains a lyric about how Gord Downie remembers “every single fuckin’ thing I know” and it is always played uncensored on Canadian radio. When Downie died the Killer Whale Tank version of New Orleans is Sinking was also played uncensored and that version has Downie singing about how an Orca bit his fuckin’ arm off. I have it on good authority that people who complained to the CRTC about this were told to fuck off.

Looked up the lyrics for that one … holy cow!

Pink Floyd’s “Lost for Words” from the Division Bell. The last few lines of the song are apparently a veiled reference to Gilmour’s strained relationship with Waters:
So I open my door to my enemies
And I ask can we wipe the slate clean?
But they tell me to please go and fuck myself
You know you just can’t win

Apparently it’s the fifth and final F-bomb in Pink Floyd’s entire history.
