I thought Santino might just get the boot last night! He is so obnoxious! So he’ll probably be around until the end. And poor Nick was just going along for the ride. (Oddly, I didn’t mind their creation so much! But their show window really sucked!)
I thought Emmett and Chloe were robbed. Their outfit was really smart, nevermind the reversible jacket.
I did not like Andrae and What’s-His-Name’s prudish little ensemble. It might have been OK for evening, but all that charmeuse in the office? Feh!
The right team got axed, I suppose. Not only was their ensemble unflattering and too covered up, it was also too wrinkly!
And too much drama on the Kara/Zuleima team. Kara is probably next to go.
Heidi’s hair and makeup were horrible. She is a gorgeous girl but last night? Not so much.
I knew they wouldn’t axe Santino and Nick. Those two each have more talent in their little finger than Marla has in total. Santino did need to be brought down a peg or two, though. Notice that while we were told that Daniel/Andrae’s window got the most votes, they never actually said whose got the least? It might well have been Nick/Santino’s.
Emmett and Chloe’s design was great, but even better was that incredible way their model, Grace, reversed the jacket on the runway so easily. Apparently she’s in her late 20s and has modeled for all the big runway shows, and it sure shows.
Zuleima’s “'80s power bitch” jacket was horrible!
It may just be the way the show is edited, but Santino gets more infuriating with each episode. He doesn’t bother to conceal his contempt for everyone else in the room, including the judges! What was that crack about how he knew a lot of women who know Banana Republic but don’t know Michael Kors? The only reason I’m glad he wasn’t tossed out last night is because Nick would have been dragged down with him. Also, Diana and Marla’s design was pretty awful and they probably deserved to be eliminated.
Umm, Staintino? Those people over there in the chairs? The ones you’re working soooooooo hard to piss off and alienate? Yeah, those are the judges. You know, the ones that will decide how far you go in this competion? So, if you’re thinking of calling Heidi a cow in stilettos next week, just in case you didn’t insult her enough with you Springtime for Hitler lingerie collection, you might want to reconsider that runway tactic of yours.
Unless you’re just another media whore like Johnny Assplay, using a reality show to further your own media whoredom, and you really don’t give a shit about the contest.
Oh, and about Diana’s voice driving you crazy?
- You’re already there.
- Pot, please meet Kettle.
Wow, this episode was boring. It was pretty obvious that, barring a major screw-up by one of the other teams, Diane and Marla would be gone. And the whoel window disply challenge was uninteresting.
I was confused about why they made such a big deal about the display windows being part of the challenge, then apparantly ignored the windows during the final eliminations.
I thought it was a great episode. I was geniuinely worried about Nick being brought down by Santino. It’s obvious that Nick is not enamoured with Santino. I loved that he told Santino that he would defend himself on the runway if it came to it. And then he did. What was his line in the confessionals? Something like “if there are any finished hems, that’s my doing.”
If he had been with Chole like he said he wanted, they would have won, I’m sure. As it was, Santino’s design with Nick’s toning it down was so far off the mark that they are fortunate to have survived. I wonder if they would have cut Santino’s team if it hadn’t been Nick with him.
Andrae and Daniel worked so well together it was like they had been a team for years. They deserved the win. The outfit they designed fits Banana Republic and their display was good too.
Chloe and Emmett could have won and it wouldn’t have been a surprise either. Really, really strong design and they worked well together. That was the most impressed I’ve been with Emmett.
Kara owes Zulema big time. She saved them from the scrap heap even though the jacket was awful. Her decision to make the dress with the circle print saved their skin.
I’m sorry to see Diana go; but she had no hope of winning. She’s just not as good as Nick, Chloe, Daniel or Emmett. Marla shouldn’t have even been there. Diana’s meekness was her downfall this episode. When Tim told them to choose a teammate, she should have make a move to ask Emmett, Andrea, Daniel or Chloe to work with her. Instead she stood around until Marla came up to her. She sealed her fate right then. But Kara and Zulema almost stole the defeat from them with their bickering and breakdown. The outfit itself wasn’t awful; but it was dull and unexpressive. I liked Michael Kors’ assessment that it looked like an old stewardess’ uniform. The less said about Diana and Marla’s window the better. As bad as Santino’s was, theirs was worse.
Nick is still my pick to win. But I don’t think Santino is going to make it to Fashion Week anymore. I think it will be Nick, Chloe and Daniel.
The Banana Republic customers chose the winner based on the outfit and window design. The loser was chosen by the judges on the Runway.
Even I noticed her make up? What was up with that? She had the lips of a Kabuki mask.
She was preggers during filming. Maybe she was just not up for too much time in the make-up chair. She looked dressed down, but not awful, IMHO.
Wow. I’m not as upset as I thought I would be.
I liked Diana’s outfit, but I DID believe that it was “all work and no play”, so it didn’t fit into the challenge. Yes, it’s easy to blame Marla, but I think in the end, Diana had it coming. She should have known better than to come up with something that dull. Yes, the model looked great, I thought the outfit was very nice, though a little flawed in the back), but very nice and looking great can be boring. Goes to show you that one foul–up is all it takes to be eliminated. Too bad two people had to go, but if it were one, then I’m almost positive that Marla would have been the one to go, which would have pleased me more, but I honestly have no problem with what happened tonight.
Never thought I’d say that.
Still, I hated the episode and thought it was dumb and boring. I hated the way the pairs challenge ended up(should have been a random pick from numbers/a bag or make sure that the pairs have never worked with each other before) and I DID hate the fact that Diana went, even if it was for the best given Marla and Cara(that awful model). Plus, I think the tension with Marla(who should have been eliminated in challenge five) being there went away too, so it was for the “greater good” of the show. Diana was necessary “collateral damage”.
I think Diana was one of the strongest designers there in terms of raw brilliance, great ideas and wonderful concepts, but she lacked the experience to properly follow through. She also lacked the decisiveness and calculation to prevent being stuck with Marla(then again, people do gravitate to those they’ve worked with before and ended up safe as a result). Emmett was well-calculated when he nabbed Chloe.
She also could have been more confident, but that will come in time and I think Diana will succeed given time.
That’s the one thing that I love about this show. Santino can be prick but the judges have enough sense to still judge him on his creations instead of his conniptions.
I’m a little sad to see Diana go because I was hoping she was going to let her freak flag fly a bit more. Marla, on the other hand, was past-prime. That dress fit like a tube top. I didn’t mind their window as it seemed a bit of fun went into it as opposed to Santino/Nick’s butcher paper debacle.
The jacket for Kara/Zulema’s outfit? It looked like sleeveless Jediwear™ to me. It looked almost like toilet paper. And not the good 2-ply kind either.
Santino/Nick’s outfit was ok, but it definitely wasn’t the Banana. The jacket’s kimono arms were ridiculous. When I think of BR style, I think high khaki fashion. (Maybe that’s just the men’s stuff that gives me that impression). It’s the same company that is GAP and Old Navy, it’s just the higher tertiary leaf on the branch.
I saw Diana and Marla on the Today Show this morning, and Diana basically was pleased at how much she’d learned. I think she used the show as an opportunity to get some in-the-trenches experience and she appreciated the fact that it really opened her eyes to the reality of the design world. She’ll definitely grow from the experience. Marla, not so much. She should never have been there; she just became so defeated. And, I hate to say it, deservedly so. She’s a nice woman, and probably an excellent seamstress. Maybe she should stick to that.
Watching this episode made me hate loathe Marla even more. She’s a nice person but she should have been let go last week for the copycat dress.
I like Diana because at least she’s interesting. She probably would have been paired with Guadalupe this week. They would have gotten better results together.
I loved Zulema and Kara’s window even though I didn’t like the dress they came up with. Emmet and Chloe’s window also rocked. Emmet is a good artist.
Had Santino been paired with anyone but Nick I think this would have been the end of the line for him. He was such a creep in this episode – nasty and rude to everyone. He can make fun of Diana all he wants but at least she doesn’t look like an unshaved villain from a bad horror flick. I pity Nick because Santino’s probably going to come after him for the remarks he made about their design on the runway.
You mean Zod.
