Does anyone else listen to “Tim’s Take” on the Project Runway website? It’s usually pretty interesting to listen to. This week he talks about how he and Angela haad a real intense conversation and how much he hated Malan’s dress.
He also hints that next week they will be using a fashion accessory as inspiration and then says we will never guess whatthat fashion accesory is. My guess: one of those little dogs.
I noticed something else about Tim - in episode 1, he told Vincent to embellish the basket hat, and the judges said the hat should not have been included at all - -he told Keith that using just the blue sheet showed no inspiration and that he should add some junk to it - and the plain blue dress won. I am beginning to wonder if Tim is (perhaps subconsciously) trying to sabotage the designers
Jesus, that’s a bit of a stretch. The fact that he sometimes has some slightly different ideas than the judges about what looks good hardly constitutes an attempt to sabotage them. Over the past two seasons, his advice has been good far more often than it’s been bad, as far as i can remember.
Also, Tim was skeptical about Vincent’s use of the basket hat, just like the judges were. He made clear that he wasn’t very keen on the idea. But he also said that if Vincent insisted on using the hat, it should have some additional material and not just be a plain basket.
Too often the judges simply do not pay attention to the task requirments. I think that is where Tim and the judges differed (and many SDMB posters as well) regarding Keith. The judges just wanted to see a nice dress, Tim thought it should have been more creative.
I remember last season they were given a task to incorporate plants/flowers into their design on a certain budget. When te dresses came out the judges were “Where are the roses?”, Tim was thinking, “How much money do you think they had?”.
I agreed with the judges that the dress looked great, and i think its simplicity contributed to that.
But i also agreed with Tim that, in a challenge that asks the designers to make use of various materials from the apartment, a basic dress made out of one simple fabric was not really in the spirit of the task. I think his advice was appropriate to the task, and Keith got lucky that the judges weighed the criteria differently.
Did NOT like her dress, sorry! Odd color. Too foofy at the bottom.
I thought Miss Switzerland’s dress looked a lot like Laura’s elegant number. . . only hot pink!
But the worst dress was Miss Paraguay’s. And those earrings!!! Hideous!!!
Miss Puerto Rico will be a stunning Miss Universe. Very large lips and teeth!
I was also sad to see Malan go. I was expecting to find him arrogant but he wasn’t. He actually seemed very sweet and happy to be there. I like how he complimented Laura on her coat in the first episode. Whenever the camera panned to him as other designers were being criticized he seemed to be feeling their pain, too, instead of smirking at it (Keith, Jeffrey). In all fairness, a professional designer probably would have a lot of trouble coming up with something on a deadline like that, too. The difference is a professional designer would likely have the opportunity to correct their mistakes.
I think the fact that Malan took responsibility for his work and agreed he should be the one to go should have given him the reprieve because neither Angela or Vincent took responsibilty for their errors. As others have said Vincent was just as responsible for their inability to work as a team. I wonder what would have happened had he been teamed up with one of the other stronger designers? But I really think Angela should have gone because of her constant avoidance of actually doing any work.
She couldn’t even be bothered to do a sketch.
But her dress was very odd. It seemed to be made entirely of chain. Very un-classy. It looked like she was trying too hard to be sexy.
But last season, when Daniel Franco took responsibility for his lingerie group and Santino blamed everything on Emmet, Daniel was the one to go. It seems integrity wins you nothing but the affectionate mourning of your departure by the viewers.
Yeah, that’s true but one can always dream that integrity might actually count for something.
I think Vincent and Angela are doomed anyway. Neither will be able to work well in any furture teams and Angela seems to have no talent at all. Vincent makes me so nervous, I keep thinking he’s going to crack up at any time, grab a scissors and start the carnage.
I thought that the best gown for the task won, in this case. While no woman that I know would have worn it, it was perfect for the pageant. Kayne knows his stuff. There were other gowns that were prettier and more wearable, but they were not Miss Universe gowns. Overall, I agreed with the judges this time. Also, Kayne seems sweet and I’m sure he’ll succeed in his chosen area of design, even if he doesn’t win Project Runway.
As for Malan… he was weird and kind of pathetic. I don’t think he could have won, but he was certainly more interesting than whiny, conniving Angela. Vincent cannot possibly hang on much longer with his lame designs, either, but his instinct to keep Angela at arm’s length probably was a sound one. She displayed open disdain for him from the beginning and seemed only concerned about her own ass. It was a sickening partnership all around.
My current favorite is Michael. I find his designs interesting and his point of view refreshing. I’m interested to see what he does in the next challenge. Laura is good too. Keith and Jeffrey, so annoying, but I feel like at least Keith will be around for a while.
I don’t think she said Vera Wang’s name right, either … but then again, I was very distracted by Angela’s stupendously bad outfit, so I wasn’t paying as much attention to Heidi as I ought to have been.
Have you guys seen this? It looks like Keith might be the source of the controversy that we saw in the pre-season promos. I’d love it if Keith were auf’d and Malan brought back on to be his replacement, but there’s no way that would happen. Still, I’d love to see some sort of confrontation. I know that the pre-final three episodes have been taped already, but perhaps the producers discovered the plagarism during taping?
