Project Runway 7/26

And the drama heats up.

Loved Tim Gunn on the grassy knoll with the little tiny dogs. So cute. Kind of proved that maxim about working with children and animals, though, what with all the dogs trying to take their outfits off on the runway by any means necessary. I loved it, though. Puppies make me happy.

Angela’s skirts, however, make me want to pull my eyes out and boil them to remove the stain. Good Lord, I hate the way that woman dresses. I hate her shiny fabrics. I hate the whole Angela Keslar aesthetic. And I hate her.

Someone gets kicked off next week… excitement…

I can’t wait!!! Does anyone have any inside info on who is the kickee. . . and why?

Honest to pete, I don’t understand why they have kept Angela around…that thing was just a disaster from a design standpoint…I don’t care HOW well constructed it was. Oy vey was that awful.

And good question…what IS it with those weird skirts? The whole combo last week of the red bubble skirt thing with the ribbed hose and the boots she wears that are that strange mid-calf length…what is up wth that? Not good.

I like most of the other designs quite well…good group this time, I think, with real talent.

Boy that Keith is a egotistical bastard, though, isn’t he? Dang.

Unfortunately, I do know…someone saw a spoiler & told me. Do you really want to know?

Yes!!! Please e-mail me at annieclaus@aol.com.

Oh, I forgot to mention - happy belated birthday, Bradley! I was so happy at their reaction to his outfit. He made it through. Brilliant.

That was a wonderfully serious fakeout. I loved it! I was reminded of the times I’ve managed to pull off something like that.

Angela should have gone for the hooker outfit. What an ugly monstrosity! Katherine is so nice and her doggy’s outfit was adorable. Laura also cracked me up with her hands off attitude towards the cute pomeranian she wound up with. I just wish she’d give up the “I have five kids” line to explain her every action.

The other person who has to go is Ivanka Trump. Apparently she’s following in daddy’s famewhoring footsteps.

Well, that was an intriguing episode. I loved the challenge, and the dogs were funny as hell.

Personally, i thought Alison’s outfit was fantastic, and was the best combination of overall style and adherence to the terms of the challenge. Uli’s work was great, and i certainly wasn’t dissappointed that she won, but for me Alison edged her out.

My wife and i gaped at each other in dumbstruck amazement when the judges gave their opinions of Bradley’s design. I had it high on my list of candidates for elimination, and i just couldn’t believe how much they liked it. I was happy for Bradley, but Jeeeeeeesus that was an awful outfit.

On the other end of the scale, i thought Michael should have been in the top 3, and that his outfit was good enough to win it. By the way, what’s with their coverage during the design stage? Michael has hardly appeared on camera at all; before the runway show, we barely even knew what he was working on. I guess his good-natured equanimity and soft-spokenness don’t make for great drama.

I’m over Laura. Sure, her stuff looks classy and is well made, but it seems like she’s only got one look, and i’m already finding it boring. And i agree that her constant harping about her kids is also getting old. Next!

I really felt sorry for Katherine when she was kicked off. I actually quite liked her dress, and i think she had much more potential than Angela, who continues to be awful.

Keith’s story once again demonstrates that the show is happy to hand out challenges without caring whether the designers actually follow the instructions or not. Last week’s challenge was about teamwork, and Vincent and Angela manifestly failed to work as a team, yet neither was thrown off. This week was about dressing a person and a dog, and using the dog as inspiration for the clothing. Keith’s dress was lovely, but he effectively ignored the challenge altogether and didn’t pay a price for it.

Looking forward, i think Alison and Uli are both likely to be around until right near the end, and that Alison in particular has what it takes to win the whole thing.

Finally, i’m really looking forard to finding out what next week’s scandal is all about! But PLEASE don’t reveal it in this thread.

Absolutely. She was painful to listen to.

By the way, does anyone know what’s happened to Michael Kors? Is this a scheduled absence, or did he get sick or something?

OMG, don’t worry…I would never, ever do that…I hate being spoilered, myself.

For those of you who wanted it by e-mail…I sent it off to both of you.

Hers was the best one and I was surprised when she didn’t win. Uli’s was good and I liked it, definitely more wearable, but Alison’s was cooler.

I totally agree with you. It was so ugly and scary that I felt bad for him, but hey, at least he’s a nice guy I guess, and he got a birthday reprieve.

We are on the same wavelength. Where is Michael? We hardly saw him at all, except when Laura was being Bad Mommy to the dickish Keith, who was apparently using all Michael’s thread. I feel like Michael can stick up for himself and would probably kick the hell out of Keith in 3 seconds if he needed to, so Laura should stop patronizing him. His dress (which they showed for all of 12 second total) looked classy and sexy. Waaaaaaay nicer than Bradley, whose praise baffled me. Michael is still my favorite designer so far and I want to see more of him.

Also, we saw zero Bonnie this ep. Her dress was pretty cute.

Vincent cracked me up with his enthusiam for the dog’s hat. He’s growing on me a little, while Angela continues to fester like a sore in a bubble skirt. Please let her be gone soon! What kind of day camp does she think her woman would be running in Paris, a camp for ingenue hookers? What’s the point of coming up with the story if it’s going to be totally idiotic?

Keith is trying to be the Santino of this season, but he’s missing one crucial thing-- a sense of humor. Yes, Santino was a flaming jerkwad, but he also had some hilarious moments that made him fun to watch. Keith is a one-note egomaniac.

I think the judges reward daring and innovation over boring or slipsod, especially in a designer who has solid construction skills. I’m not sure that Stacey or Katherine had the creativity or raw skills to stick around. Malan’s execution also wasn’t that solid. I don’t know, just trying to figure out what the judges are thinking.

But his dress was way hot, and he’s got skills. He’s too good to kick off just yet. As for the task before being about teamwork, I think it was more about creating drama and making a hot pageant dress.

Who could possibly look at those skirts and think “My gosh, it’s Yves Saint Laurent!”

And what kind of freak ass art camps did she go to?

I didn’t personally like Alison’s outfit (i.e., I wouldn’t wear it) but I was shocked it didn’t win. It was beautifully done. Uli has been consistently good, too, and I really liked Michael’s dress.

Still, Robert & Kayne are my favorite people. And I would wear their clothes.

Anyone else here get the impression that Laura spends about, oh, 3 minutes of quality time with her kids a week?

I wish they would show more of each designer- we didn’t see Vincent’s piece until the runway (except for the dog outfit). I thought it was cute, but I thought he would be called out for its simplicity- a little black dress with leggings and accesories? Well, I liked it and him, so I wasn’t too disapointed.

I feel like we are missing other designers as well (I’m terrible with names, but y’all know what I’m talking about). The camera work this season doesn’t linger on the outfits as they go down the runway, so it’s hard to really appreciate what some of the designers ended up creating.

Yeah Bradley! I always root for the underdog and that was Bradley for certain, this week!

Angela has got to go- she reminds me of Zulema from last season- kept way too long beyond her talents and my interest  !

I liked Allison’s ensemble best, too. But I was content with the winner.

If Elton John and Stephen King had a love child, he’d look just like Vincent.

Keith complaining about how unfair it was that his design didn’t win was just perplexing. What part of “didn’t fulfill the requirements of the challenge” don’t you get?

I agree that Uli and Angela were the top two. I would have a hard time choosing between them. Alison’s story was more interesting, though.

I guess with 13 designers it’s hard to focus on everyone, but there were several nice outfits that you would have missed if you blinked at the wrong time. Kayne’s and Michael’s were both nice, Robert’s was cute, and Jeffrey’s was interesting. I don’t even really remember Bonnie’s. I think Michael is successfully flying under the radar until some of the lesser designers get weeded out, and then he might come out as a star. Jeffrey didn’t seem at all offputting last night. He was funny, and seemed normal, and I almost didn’t notice the neck-thing.

I don’t think Katharine deserved to go. Her dress was a little unfinished, but it was attractive. It seems to me that Chloe did a lot of things that were just as simple last season, and may have even won with one of them. Her dog’s hoodie was the best of the dog outfits.

What’s up with Vincent? His demented cackling over the idea of putting a hat on a dog was kind of creepy.

I loved Laura’s look of distaste when she realized she was going to have to work with a dog. And how she stuck it in her tote so she wouldn’t have to touch it. I know some people just aren’t dog people, but her attitude that having 5 kids and a dog is unthinkable was pretty funny. How anal do you think she is at home? I felt sorry for that adorable pom when she was trying to stuff it into its little outfit. It was so well behaved!

So, next week is the big scandal, finally. Can’t wait!

That second paragraph above should of course read “…Uli and Alison…”

Thank you. I knew he was Elton with a hint of somebody else … you nailed it.

Keith is a complete dick and I don’t want to watch him anymore … but he makes great clothes. sigh

That dog trying like hell to get that hat off was the cutest thing I’ve seen all week. Poor little guy. Most of the dogs were very good sports, though.

I was really surprised by how much everybody loved Bradley’s outfit, but I like him enough that I’ll take the gimme and be happy they didn’t lose him on his birthday.

The judges are handing out some really good drugs, if Angela didn’t go home for that horrendous outfit. Gah. There are no words.

That was pretty funny. Don’t give me this B.S. about how you don’t have any…how did she put it…“emotional energy” left for a dog? I actually completely understand that POV, but that’s not her problem. Her problem is that she IS totally anal, as you say…she didn’t even want to touch it! Cracked me up…she was, like, shivering at the thought of it. Oy vey, I feel a little sorry for those kids.

Those clips they show whenever Laura mentions her kids make me think she could use a visit from Supernanny.

I really like Uli’s outfit. Alison’s was good, and more couture, which is not my taste. Plus, I have a bet on the series with a colleague – I picked Uli and she picked Alison.

Robert and Laura both had pretty boring designs. Vincent’s was boring, too, and I think he spent more time on the dog’s outfit than on the dress.

Kayne, Bonnie, Michael, and Jeffrey all had kind of funky outfits.

I also didn’t see why the judges liked Bradley’s outfit so much.

I didn’t like Keith’s dress all that much, and his attitude is quite annoying.

Once again, Angela was in the bottom two, and she should have gone home again. Katherine’s was unoriginal, but at least it wasn’t ugly like Angela’s stupid puffy skirt. I think Katherine may have squeeked by if she had done a better job finishing the dress.
