Project Runway - 9/3

There kind of was a disagreement this week. Heidi clearly did not like Kenley’s dress, and told her so. She also thought that Kenley copped out by only making one piece. However, once Diane von Furstenberg piped up and said she liked it, Mallis and Kors raved about it and Heidi shut up. Frequently we see Heidi disagreeing with the other judges: she liked the belt on Jerell’s dress for Brooke Shields, while everyone else hated it. But other than Heidi, I agree that we rarely see much disagreement.

I wish they’d show more…I mean, it can’t possibly be so cut and dry that they always agree and always disagree, can it?

I wished they’d show more of the critiques in general. Apparently they go on for quite some time on the runway, and all we get to see is seconds of each. They also cut out a lot of what Tim is saying in the workroom (for instance, he and Terri got in a knock-down over Terri’s drag queen outfit, of which we were shown nothing). I’d rather see that than Suede talking about his dead relatives, or Blayne whining about wanting to tan, etc. Hell, I’d watch a 90 minute PRW if that extra half hour was Tim’s and the judge’s critiques.

Agree 100%. There are so many times I’m thinking WTF over the judges’ picks. Remember the couture challenge two seasons ago, when Jeffery won with that bright yellow plaid deconstructed gown? Personally, I didn’t see the appeal of it, but of course professional designers and fashion critics have insight that I don’t have. I’d just like to be given a better understanding of that insight, you know?

If it’s anything like Top Chef, Tom Colicchio has said that sometimes the judges argure for hours before they bring the chefs back in. We rarely see much of that.

Or also, I remember there was one where Tim said something like, “Fabulous!” and later he said, “Actually, I told him, ‘Make SURE it’s fabulous.’” I don’t remember which one, but I think it was on the blog Project Rungay (which I’m so addicted to).

Yes, I remember reading that, too, although like you, not sure which blog I read it on. He has made other insinuations that the editing can be a little suspect. (Big surprise, I know! :))
