Project Runway All-Stars Season 4

I’m just watching out of inertia.

It’s not that he’s not intelligent, it’s that he is very narrowly focused. I was surprised by his lack of basic astronomy knowledge, because he’s constantly bringing very sophisticated fashion, historical and literary references. He obviously just doesn’t care enough about astronomy to retain any information. Reminds me of Sherlock Holmes:

I just saw it on The Soup. Al I can think is maybe he has a binary classification system – on fire, it’s a star; not on fire, it’s a planet.

Well, then, why didn’t he notice that Dmitri’s look not only wasn’t avant garde, but recycled an idea he’d done an entire fashion show on – as a PR winner, which qualified him to compete as an all-star?

(I don’t disagree with your larger point, but I’m totally flabbergasted that no one called him out for redoing the same basic idea. And if the point was “yeah, but he did X, Y, or Z, which made it different” – say that, don’t just ignore the similarity.)

Interesting. The worst designer (in my opinion) wins; The judges liked the clown costumes; And Isaac threatens Fabio (OK, being a little facetious. )

Holy crap, Jay: “I’ve never worked with red before”?!? And you call yourself a designer – black, white and red are kind of the basics to work with?!

I totally respected how well-made Dmitri’s are, and I loved the black and yellow, but neoprene again? Form-fitting again? Change it up a little!

And Sanjee’s? The yellow big tube made even that very thin model look paunchy. Throwing that shrug thing over it didn’t make her looks cohesive. UGH.

Now that Lisa Robertson is gone from QVC, will Sonjie’s separates still be sold? I liked hers the best of all. It was different enough, yet mainstream. I can’t see a lot of Q viewers buying it though.

I checked this morning, and the winning items were available from QVC.

Jacket

Skirt

Can’t see the jacket details now that they’ve changed it to black. Plus the pictures are too small. I’m thinking this was thrown on the QVC website last night.

The jacket looks like eyelet to me.

I keep going back and forth between Fabio and Michelle for worst. My first instinct was Michelle because it was MOB (except for the neckline) and ill-fitting and not the deep luscious plum you would hope for. And Fabio’s silhouette was more modern and versatile (you couldn’t wear Michelle’s anywhere but a wedding). But then his hem was an atrocity.

I guess Helen was the best of the ho-hum. She does know how to make a classy dark dress.

Hated all of them. I don’t think that’s ever happened before. It’s like you say “bridesmaid” and they forgot everything they ever knew about making pretty dresses. Just awful.

Now Im thinking a double elimination of Michelle and Fabio would have been nice.

You’re right–even though they said make it something that can be worn elsewhere, it ended up being the clichéd bridesmaid dresses that you can supposedly wear elsewhere but really never can.

Holy crap, how many babies are in there?

That … thing … that Michelle made for the hour challenge? What the hell. How can they act like hers was equivalent in quality to Helen’s? Of course, Helen just had a fully-made garment which she embellished but it looked 1000 times better that the pants-cho.

Oh Sanji. The bow was interesting but the rest of the dress needs to be simpler and more elegant/expensive looking. I hope it is Helen and Dmitri neck and neck in the finale, with Dmitri winning.

Helen – that’s BS about cutting up someone’s work. She was just scared and transferred it to a “noble” sentiment. And she had no problem with having done it after she made it in.

Yup, I’m having a hard time picturing a scenario where Dmitri doesn’t walk away with the whole thing, leaving the other two to scrabble after a distant second place.

There is no reason Sanji should be there instead of Michelle, that is just crazy. I would have LOVED to see a runway where Dimitri and Michelle went head-to-head (because no way can Helen compete with those two.) Oh well at least Michelle already won it once.

This is Dimitri’s to win, unless the producer want to have a black female win, which, it being Project Runway, is entirely possible.

I loved Sonjia’s concept, which the guest judge commented on- being able to use the bow like a popped collar to conceal the face. But the bow itself looked sad and the under skirt should have been longer.

Michelle’s dress, on the other hand, was a dress I’ve seen a billion times with a cheap looking chain. I got what she was going for but I didn’t see any real concept.

Helen’s dress made me think of 90s dresses- I think there was a pale pink spaghetti strap gown that Gwyneth Paltrow or Claire Danes wore? But with Marchesa detailing. But I liked parts of her concept, like incorporating the scalloped edge of the fabric as a design element.

I think Dima’s* outfit would have been more impressive as a member of the audience if we hadn’t all just dealt with the fringe obsessed New Zealander on the most recent original flavor Project Runway. The execution was great and it was beautiful on his model. I wonder if she was wearing a bronzer- her clavicles were glowing and the skin/fabric contrast made her look like a million bucks. I thought it was rather odd that the judges thought Carey Mulligan would look great in it. I feel like she is way too pale to pull off ivory fringe. If anything, that’s a Lupita dress.

*can’t remember which of a billion ways to spell Dmitri is correct so I’m just using his nickname. My phone will lose what I’m writing if I try to go looking.

Just one. Elizabella was born on September 4, 2014. Seven pounds, seven ounces. (Counts on fingers) So if nothing else, we know the show was taped five months ago. Seems like an awfully long time to keep people quiet about the show’s outcome.

Well, that was anticlimactic.

Turned out the most interesting element of the season for me was trying to figure out exactly what they were doing to Alyssa to make her look so goddamned frumpy, and wondering why she went along with it.
