Project Runway All Stars Season 5

Me too – I stock up on his knit shirts for work.

But when he and Shawnie Sue get together? “It’s the most. It’s everything! I just can’t even.” :stuck_out_tongue:

Today on Project Jumpsuit All Stars the person who should have gone home for a bad dress and incredibly horrible hair is Alyssa’s stylist.

Also, how many judges do they need? Although Zac seemed to be the only voice of reason, so I’m glad he was on.

I found it funny that talking to Ken the judges seemed fairly complimentary, but then amongst themselves they trashed him.

And Sam on the top? How was his look Summer or bold? To be honest, Kini’s was the only look I actually liked. All the rest to me were blah, or safe at most.

What was that thing that crawled onto Alyssa’s head and died there? This is not good advertising for the hair studio or the makeup studio or baublebar if that’s where the earrings came from.

Asha: “I picked dark oxblood which seemed fresh for summer.” Yeah, I’ve always said, nothing says “summer” like dark oxblood. And the print was the one chosen by the 16-year-old Peytie on Project Runway Junior for half her runway looks. Josephine Baker is shimmying in her grave.

Ken: Just, no. Double elimination would have been fine. What was it about a plain pair of white pants that he kept saying was badass? I was hoping he would dress her in the cupless top – exposed boobage is badass (and it would out-Josephine-Baker Asha’s look).

Dom: I agreed that a lighter bottom with the structured top would have been better, but still not summer.

Emily: Meh. Too much like the looks the line already carries. And culottes – nah.

Sam: Triple elimination would have been fine. He really just pays no attention to the challenge and does what he feels like doing.

Kini: When he said he was doing genie pants, it being him I assumed he meant jeany pants. I’m on the fence about it but at least it was different, and different for him.

Wow - that was a completely uninspired runway. Only Emily and Kini seemed to have any idea of what the challenge really was. As to the other contestants, Sam and Ken seemed to understand what summer was, but had no clue on the badass part. Dom and Asha had no conception of either summer or badass, but at least Dom’s look was attractive, albeit unseasonal.

Poor Alyssa - evidently she was attacked outside the studio by a New Yawk varmint of some kind who made a nest in her hair. The makeup wasn’t as harsh this week, but that HAIR!

I really want my 60 minutes back after watching this episode.

That bratty man-child is going to win the whole thing because Isaac and Zac think he’s flirting with them.

I actually liked Sam’s outfit, in that seersucker, especially pastel seersucker, is a difficult fabric to make interesting. No, it wasn’t bad ass but it looked chic and summery and it looked good on the runway.

Dom and Ken were the ones who really fell down on the job, Dom for creating such a heavy look and Ken for making such a nothing outfit. I liked Kini’s dyed jacket and if the pants were more tailored he might have won. I loved his fabric combo. Emily, just okay, it was black. I’m just grateful that none of the others went for: Fashion forward? Bad ass? Black! cliche.

With Asha gone, it’s down to the serious contenders. I think Emily will be next.

I thought Ken was doing so much work on those pants, and they were a lock. They weren’t even hemmed right or finished, and they ended up looking like any other pair of pants. Disappointed.

I usually love Dom’s looks and hate Sam’s, in part as a reflection of their personalities, but I didn’t mind Sam’s look this week. Not bad ass, but summery. I have no idea what Dom was thinking. That was summer??

After seeing her “fashion line” last week and another nightmare outfit this week, I must ask again, who decided Alyssa Milano of all people was a fashion icon?

I wonder if she lost a bet. Or a bunch of bets.

I don’t have a cite because I can’t remember who did the interview, but I can recall seeing Alyssa interviewed during her first go at All-Stars. She was asked how she got involved and her reply was that one of the show’s producers was a big fan of her sports clothes and tossed her name out for consideration as host. She was asked to join because while she had a little clothing industry knowledge, she wasn’t affiliated or associated with any of the sponsors of the show and didn’t know the judges, so wouldn’t come on board with any alliances. When she was approached, at first she said no. She didn’t feel she had the knowledge and had not done any hosting before. But they convinced her and she took on the job.

The interviewer asked her how she dressed in real life and she replied that she was the furthest thing from a fashionista imaginable. She liked the type of athletic clothing she designed and was more of a tomboy than a fashion plate.

This leads me to believe that the unfortunate clothing and makeup and hair choices she has sported on this show were someone else’s idea, not hers.

Too bad they don’t style her around that! They can still do an upscale version of tomboy where she would feel a lot more comfortable and still look fashionable.

I agree! She could be dressed a little more comfortably and styled a little more casually and still be perfectly appropriate for her role.

Maybe it’s because I knew her so long as Sam Micelli, but I can totally see that.
We have seen enough cute tomboy looks created on the show that we know it’s possible.
Why force all the weirdness on her and create this fashionista persona? We’d watch either way, I’m sure.

After the most recent episode I am joining those who believe that the reason Sam is still on the show is because Isaac has a crush on him.

Absolutely. I know fashion is subjective but Sam is the least talented of the group. Last night kind of ruined the show for me. It’s just really not fair to the others. It’s hard to root for people when the deck is stacked.

No kidding. Isaac on other contestants: “I just don’t see how it’s avant-garde…” “Avant-garde can’t be pretty.” Draping purplish rainbow fabric on a model and sending her down the runway with some irrelevant-to-the-challenge “celebrate gay rights” story, though? “Loved it; my favorite.” Isaac thinks this is not avant-garde enough, but somehow this is the best in show? Ugh. Sam could send someone down the runway in an oversized paper bag, and Isaac would call it “bold and inspirational in concept.”

At least the other judges were able to gang up on him enough to get the winner right.

I am so embarrassed for Isaac.

Yeah, I’m an Isaac fan in general but at this point either he is blinded by lust or the whole thing is an elaborate practical joke on us the viewers.

I felt a tiny bit bad for Sam when Ken called him out, because I think he does think he wants it as badly as the others, and that he is a designer. Whenever he starts “as a designer, I” I think, you’re not a designer!

This was just sad.

I kind of like Sam…

NO just NO

So far I think it’s only been Kini and Ken that have spoken openly against him. I wonder how the other designers feel about him still being in the competition.
