Japanese ghost stories? Give me a fucking break.
I thought Laura’s was the best and Jeffrey’s the worst. Which means, of course, that Jeffrey will win.
You have GOT to be kidding me!
Wow. I did NOT expect that, I didn’t even like his collection that much. I was sure it would be between Uli and Michael.
Holy crap.

I haven’t really been following all of the SDMB threads on project runway, but what do the Dopers have against Jeffrey? Personally, I’m happy he won.
(Not trying to start a debate or anything, just wondering if he did something during one of the episodes I missed or something.)
I’m happy Jeffrey won. To me, it was between him and Uli. I thought Michael’s collection was hideous and Laura’s pretty typical of her. I’d never wear a single thing any of them made, but I thought Jeffrey and Uli made the best stuff.
The reason I don’t like Jeffrey is because for as much hype as he gets for being “innovative”, he really only does one thing: some combination of street/punk rock. He’s so innovative because it’s different, but it’s a one-trick pony. He doesn’t have much range, and I think there are other designers that can pull off the range in designing better than he can.
“OOh, shiny grunge, so INNOVATIVE Jeffrey!”
Meh.

Jeffrey would have been innovative in 1985. Today? BOR-RING.
I loved the beaded minidress that Laura did as well as the dress she brought onto the runway with the judges. I though Uli’s collection was odd–half of it was her typical stuff and then the other half was tailored. I would definitely buy one of her dresses if I were going to Miami or the Caribbean for vacation. Michael’s collection was not so great. If he can find the right mentor, he’ll be doing stunning work in a few years.
Jeffrey came off as a condescending, whiny, self-centered, humorless prick. Since I think he’s much less talented than the other three, I wish he hadn’t won. On the plus side, I won’t have to see his stupid tattooed neck anymore…
The show lost credibility this season.
I don’t understand what was so bad about Michael’s collection. I thought it was the best of the bunch, with Uli’s a close second.
Michael is no less of a one-trick pony than Laura. I happen to like Jeffrey’s style, and he’s made some of my favorite pieces of the season, but every time he tried to step away from his comfort zone it didn’t work well at all.
I agree Walter Windchill, and furthermore These bravo shows are getting to be so predictable (in fact all design/model/cooking shows) by the way that producers spin them that its getting difficult to trust/believe if whats portrayed is actually going on.
If Laura opens a shop, I would outfit myself entirely in her clothing. I appreciate that her clothes that will flatter any age and can be passed down until they fall apart, unlike Jeffrey’s clothing which is only appropriate for the cally punk girl until she’s 25 and looks absolutely ridiculous.
I dont understand why jeffrey was made to “lose” one of his items of clothing, and then just use another piece of his collection that he wasnt planning on. Hello, he’s still over budget with that extra piece.
I knew Michael wasn’t going to win as soon as I saw his collection. It’s too bad he went all hoochie mama-- I could see JLo in those outfits, but no one actually real. Why, Michael? I was soooo rooting for him, but the judges had no choice but to auf him.
Laura’s collection was the most wearable IMO. She’s got a future but I knew she wouldn’t win as well-- she refuses to go out on a limb. So do I, in my own personal dress, which is why I like her.
Uli was my second favorite. Some of those see-through dresses showed, as the boys at Project Rungay would say, a little too much tootie. And the silver and gold theme was too Sleeper for me. But it was interesting and innovative and cool. Nasri looked HOT.
Jeffrey-- much ado about nothing. I liked his pin-stripe zipper dress but the rest of the collection failed to thrill me on the runway. Also, I just don’t like him as a person.
Overall, I am very disappointed with this outcome. Sucky. Anyone BUT Jeffrey would have been OK with me.
Because he eliminated all the wigs. That’s what made him go under budget.
Bah.
Jeffrey’s clothing did not flatter the female form.
Every outfit seemed to maximize flaws.
And he won.
I think Jeffrey deserved the #2 spot, and I thought Uli should have won. Michael went off to some weird place, and some of his pieces really looked trampy. Laura made nice dresses, but very little seemed new.
IAC, they implied that Uli will be moving forward in the business, which seems like a nice ending for her. (AFAICT, the Season 1 and Season 2 winners haven’t struck gold yet; maybe the real winners are everyone who gets to Fashion Week but doesn’t take the number 1 spot).
I liked Michael’s style, but he had 3 pieces that looked almost exactly like the Fuschia piece he won the challenge on back on a previous episode (5?) Bright colors, short hemline, big waisted belt.
Laura’s stuff did look fairly typical for her, black, black, and black. I thought the beading on that grey dress was pretty, but I didn’t agree with the puke-yellow thick velvet thing across the waist.
I liked Uli’s dresses, they reflected her style without being exclusive copies of her signature dress. I think real women WOULD wear her clothes, more so than women would wear Jeffrey’s clothes.
Just my opinion.
Maybe why I’m not in fashion…

I’m just stunned. I agree with KSO, his stuff was so 80’s and not in a good way. I had a stupid zipper dress ages ago. His clothing aren’t wearable. He’s going to be another Jay. A big flash then nothing. There wasn’t one thing in that collection I could see anyone wearing.
I really think a lot of it has to do with Nina and what she wants for her magazine. Elle is sort of young and that’s what she picks out. It’s not really fair that her magazine gives the grand prize and she’s the judge.
I’m just really disgusted and let down by this. I would have been happy to see Uli, Laura or Michael win. They all made beautiful clothes in their way. Jeffrey’s clothes are as ugly as he is inside.
My poor baby Michael. I love him so much. After I saw his collection, though, I knew he wouldn’t win, because he went too street. His clothes would be eaten up by everybody in the urban music biz, but they aren’t really Olympus Fashion Week material. He’ll be doing amazing things in a few years, though.
Laura’s collection was absolutely gorgeous. She may only design one thing, but by Job she does it well. If I had razor-sharp collar bones, no boobs and mile-long legs, I would wear everything she makes.
Uli’s beach stuff was same-old, same-old, but I really liked her tailored pieces. Surprisingly, she showed more range than anybody. After seeing her stuff, I was sure she was going to win. But what do I know?
Jeffrey, meh. I’m more turned off by his personality than his clothes. It bothers me that he was in the bottom three for so many challenges and kept on slipping by because of his “creativity”. However, I’m not surprised he won. As a member of the hoi polloi, I don’t really get high fashion and would never wear it, but I recognize it when I see it.
The experience of this season has left me a little less enthusiastic about Bravo shows. I agree that they’re predictable and they’re being edited for drama rather than the behind-the-scenes creative process, which is what made them interesting in the first place.
I’m sure I’ll still be glued to the t.v. come next season, though.
I’m amazed that I’m glad Jeffrey won. Not because I liked his stuff, couldn’t stand it. But after stealing Michael"s model and several nasty little remarks, topped by the one aimed at Laura tonight, I think Uli is more of a bitch than Jeffrey.
Still liked Laura’s designs the best tonight though.
You know what- I totally agree with you about Uli.
That wasn’t the first time she stole a model either. She did the exact same thing to Keith and did that little laugh when she did it.
They **all ** wondered about Jeffrey’s clothes, even Uli and when it came down to it she pretended she didn’t and put the whole thing on Laura.
But I did like her collection a lot. Some of her clothes really were beautiful. They all had some really nice pieces in their collection. I would have been totally fine if Uli, Laura or Michael won.
