Project Runway Finale Pt. 2 10/18/06 (SPOILERS)

Something about her always seemed to get to me but I could never put my finger on it. I actually liked Laura, sure she could be bitchy but at least she wasn’t backstabby. Maybe there were times she should have butted out or kept her mouth shut but at least she was consistent. She’d say things to your face. She had no qualms about saying Vincent was delusional when he was in the same room, whereas everyone else would be nervously checking for sharp objects nearby.

And I know she wasn’t exactly hurting for money but I liked that she decided to follow a dream and pursue a new career at this point in her life. I think considering that she was probably the most amateur of all of them in training, her skills were the most impressive and better than most of the “professionals”.

Yeah, I really didn’t get Tim’s explanation for how he was so sure Jeffrey did the work himself. Jeffrey could have paid cash under the table for some of that work. Plus Jeffrey started suddenly acting so hurt and wronged and gracious, I wasn’t sure if we were seeing the real Jeffrey or just a new technique for defending himself.

I thought it was a shame that Uli had no way to win. If she’d gone all for prints, they’d have called her one-note like they did Laura. If she’d gone all for solids, they’d have accused her of abandoning her identity.

I think Jeffrey won just because he had a more cohesive collection (same fabrics and motifs repeated) and just a little bit of sass. Uli’s collection was more interesting to me, and definitely more flattering, but Jeffrey was going to win because the judges are bored industry people who want just a tiny bit of something different while still conforming to some rigid rules about what makes a collection.

Here’s a really good interview with Tim. I don’t agree with him but I do like him.

Last year Chloe did a stricly eveningwear collection and she won. Wasn’t that the criticism with Laura?

Some of those pics are just way too close-up. Geez you can see the arm hair on one model and the red eyes on another.

I actually liked Jeffrey’s final collection. I thought it was interesting and some pieces were very cool, especially the red and black two tone striped dress.

But after his miserable treatment of Angela’s mother (and repulsive remarks about all women who aren’t a size four) I’d sooner go naked than buy any of his designs. He’s an immature creep with a ludicrous tatoo and a nasty demeanor. At thirty-six he has no excuses for his lousy behavior.

My favorite collection was Uli’s. Her final dress on Nazri was stunning. I loved many of her other pieces as well. I’d definitely love to see her work on the racks somewhere.

Laura’s collection was pretty and well done but I thought it lacked innovation.

Poor Michael. Of all the people involved he probably would have benefitted the most from a mentorship. But once I saw his tasteless collection I knew there’s no way he’d win let alone place. My husband said that when Tim came to his house, his parents probably said, “What a nice guy. Here, let us set you up with a nice girl.”
