Even though Anthony was in the bottom 3, I knew he couldn’t go home just yet because of his big personality. He’s fun to watch (although I can see his over-the-top schtick getting annoying after a few episodes).
But, speaking of fun, Ping is going to be a hoot to watch. I am really hoping for super weird, unwearable garments from her, just for the ZOMG factor. Plus, her personality seems a little kooky too, which is a welcome change from last year’s contestants.
I watched it, and the model episode immediately after.
I actually liked the dress that went home, although I understood what they said about it. I thought the plaid dress they all raved about had a weird bodice - one boob seemed off-kilter.
I thought the model in the wedding dress had really harsh features, and I loved the model that sang.
I haven’t watched it for the second time like I usually do, so the names all escape me.
I think they kept Ping because of the weird factor. Kinda like the girl that used to spit on fabric.
At least Ping doesn’t appear to be acting quirky for the sake of quirky, like that Ari “I’m Going to Stand on my Head Just Because I Can” Fish from last season.
There was one dress on the runway that wasn’t in the top or bottom 3, that looked like one boob was twice the size of the other. It was some white thing. I think the caption said a name like Valarie? What the hell was that thing!? I knew it wouldn’t be chosen for the bottom as I there had been no mention of it earlier in the episode, but that was my least favorite.
Hmm, OK checking on the Lifetime website, there doesn’t seem to be a “Valarie” this year. Is there a place online with images of all the dresses this year like there was when the show was on Bravo?
For once I finally felt I understood the top and bottom choices. The winning dress was pretty and interesting. I think they pushed the loser out largely because she clearly lacks technical skills. I can totally respect that decision.
Someone needs to tell Anthony to stop referring to himself in third person. But I give him kudos for laughing at one of Kors’ comments.
It looks like there’s some sort of pleated embellishment on the one cup. Frankly, when that one came down the runway, I assumed it was the one that had been whipped up in 2 hours.
It seems like it’s an older bunch they’ve got this time around. I think I counted 5 or 6 of them that are over 35. Maybe the added experience is why there weren’t any “Jeebus, what was THAT?” looks sent down last night.
I noticed that, too. I heard last time the person doing the casting was someone who did Real World and a lot of other “hip young” reality shows and the people were really lame last time. Maybe this time it’ll be better–less emphasis on trendy young people and more emphasis on design and construction and making good clothing.
Overall, I’m happy with the new season so far. So glad to see Michael Kors back, and Heidi really seemed to be kept in check instead of dominating the judging. I was a bit put off by the MTV editing, particularly in hair and makeup, but I’ll accept that if the price I have to pay to have interesting designers.
I have to admit, I didn’t watch last season at all - I kind of pretended it didn’t happen. Glad to be back to watch this season however.
I did notice that people who made it through didn’t get much face time - so when that white boob atrocity that Eyebrows pointed out came through and nothing was said, I assumed it was “oh, she’s going to make it so they aren’t going to talk about it.”
