I knew he was out the second they showed him saying “I hope Tim doesn’t use his save.” The call to home sealed the deal.
Anyway, this is the first season of this show I’ve watched after my wife got me addicted to Project Runway Jr. a few months ago. Are the talking heads normally so catty? I don’t think I’ve heard them say one good thing about another contestant’s design.
Yes! The call home with tears is usually (but not always) a good indicator who is going home.
You just started watching PR? I feel sad for you! The show is past its’ prime. Go back and watch some of the earlier seasons with Michael Kors judging, lol!
Slutty, slutty, slutty!
I actually think I am going to re-watch season 1. That Wendy Pepper drama!
And season 2 with Santino and Heidi in pissing match about panties!
Seasons 4 thru about 12-ish I think were the PR peak.
I think anyone serious about a career in design probably avoids the Project Runway circus these days. It isn’t about cultivating new talent and inspiring anyone anymore. It has fallen down the formulaic reality show rabbit hole with ridiculous deadlines, brazen product placement, and a bunch of (mostly) manufactured drama.
And I also want to say that it seems that some viewers were puzzled at the end of last night’s episode when PR put up a “In Memoriam” to past contestant Mychael Knight who sadly died recently at an Atlanta hospital, seemingly from complications of Irritable Bowel Syndrome or possibly Crohn’s Disease. Some viewers thought that the Micheal who was just eliminated was the one who had died…:rolleyes: Twitter is twitterpaited.
I guess PR could have put up a picture of Mycheal Knight just to be clear who they were memorializing, but they didn’t count on people being so easily confused.
RIP Mycheal Knight. His stuff was good once Tim got him to tone down the hoochie mama. And I mean this in the nicest way possible!
Wow, what a liar. She told the local paper that she didn’t measure anything, when she clearly admitted to measuring a tank and a pair of pants on the show.
I’ve said it before when the heavy-set woman with the flower headresses was on. A circle skirt and crop top are the refuge of the uncreative. And they loved it!! Calling a circle skirt “thoughtful”??! Yes, the pattern and texture were more interesting than the typical circle skirt (which, really, does ANYONE wear in real life?) but even Tim was saying the skirt was excellent tailoring??! I challenge him to send something down with nary a strap on it.
That is funny that Michael said he didn’t want Tim to use his save, and then he is aufed. I think it’s Tim’s revenge for Michael’s not handling the cheating better. Of course they showed Kenya’s call home to throw us off!
I think they should have come down much harder on Kentaro. That whole thing was borderline offensive, and maybe not even borderline. And for him to think he hadn’t done enough and added those colored motifs – ugh.
And Kenya – someone won a few seasons ago with woven seatbelts. Yes, this was a different silhouette but still. I like her but she needs to go.
And I agree on Heidi’s taste level. Some of the things she wears, when presumably she has access to the best stuff. Of maybe those designers don’t want to be shown on PR?
I can’t watch Project Runway anymore. Lifetime has now locked all of the episodes and you have to subscribe someplace in order to watch it. Subscribing through Hulu would be an extra $25.00 a month. I don’t like it that much.
I don’t like that much either. There are some old seasons on Youtube from time to time. I even found an Australian version on there, so that was like finding a lost season.
Interesting episode tonight. Kenya finally got Liris (the BBW model with attitude), and they bonded. Brandon did a standard Brandon, Ayana went back to non-hallucinogenic fine tailoring, and Kentaro had a major choking moment. As a fan of short, fat, bald, scrappy underdogs, the scrappy underdog acquitted herself well tonight.
Well, it became clear when Tim mentioned Queen Elizabeth and that “I like it!” that the save would used. I didn’t mind a maelstrom of fabric controlled by a corset if (1) the corset were a different fabric, like maybe dark red suede or something and (2) the maelstrom was over the top, like fully up to her neck and threatening to envelop her. Go all the way if you’re going to do it.
Kenya with the petals AGAIN. This was great on its own (although it could have used more petals), but ultimately more of the same from her. I’m glad she went with the blue since that caught my eye too.
They asked Brandon weeks ago to not show the same thing, and then they gush over the same thing every week. Solid muted colors, same texture of fabric. Zac: the poopy pants were the best he’s seen, divine from the back. Are we looking at the same pants?
I’m not into fashion – you all will have to tell me if he “knows what’s going on in fashion today” like Nina keeps saying he does.
I had to laugh that Ayana included a strap in her design. Poor Kintaro.
Tim in sweats was so cute.
Swatch did NOT like that whistle blowing.
“Momentarily” means “for a moment”. Every week, the models come in for longer than a moment, despite what Tim says.
I too have watched the australian version a while back… they used a certain phase that drove me crazy I cant remember it something like “head down ass up?”
Well, that was underwhelming. Keeping Margarita in is ridiculous.
Hee. Brandon knows so much about rough winters, and then his model is wearing a strappy sandal and a bib where a full top should be. I know, I know, it’s “editorial” and “high fashion”. The coat did look the best of what was offered though, if it weren’t like everything else he’s ever done. At least the color was more “impactful”.
The “we are a fur free show” dropped on Margarita at check out was just awful. I’m not a fan on hers, but any parameters/limits/forbidden fabrics should have been made clear up front, especially when doing a winter outfit. I hated Ayana’s coat. I dislike bright colors with black, so that was an out for me. I loved Kenya’s choice of coat fabric, and the coat, but the polka dot top just didn’t work. Brandon is clearly destined to win the whole thing, despite him churning out the same look every week. I loved Kentaro’s look.
Yeah, when it first came up I assumed it was in the documents she signed and she forgot; really bizarre that it wasn’t covered up-front with all the other rules.
I wanted to like Kentaro’s, because I like monochromatic winter white, but the shorts shorter in the back than front I didn’t like, and that he didn’t finish the seams. And you could see his cutting was uneven in a spot. /nitpick
