Project Runway starts again tonight!

So glad that Dom won! I love it when designers play with prints and color. Save me from another black or white outfit! And she seems like such a sweetheart too.

I was not impressed by any of them. I hated Justin and Alexandria’s boring color palette. I also hated that ugly gold metallic fabric Brandon used again and again and again. I didn’t really like Dom’s ugly print at all or her choices like plastic peplums. A very boring end to a very annoying season completely lacking in talent IMO.

I was really, really tense at the end because I felt like they might give it to Alexandria, who had my least favorite clothes and was my least favorite person of the four finalists. I was disappointed at how boring Justin’s collection was, but I liked both Dom’s and Braden’s, and was happy that Dom won.

I think Alexandra surprised all the judges with her well-conceived collection, the girl certainly knows how to pick the right fabric. It’s a narrow collection though–reminded me of Sirano’s final collection in that it was targeted at one type of woman.

Braden certainly fell down at the end; how could he not see that? He really needed more outside feedback from Tim or from anyone who’d seen PR and was familiar with the judges critiques. He was floundering with so many shapes and prints. The opposite of Alexandria in that respect.

Justin went farther than he should’ve and I’m relieved that Lifetime didn’t dictate he should be the winner as well. He chose the wrong fabric. His shapes were unflattering (but he was consistent with that awful wide, pleated waistband. I liked that the judges compared his look side by side with Alexandria’s so it was obvious that hers was more skillful and sophisticated.

Dom. Well I didn’t like her final collection. I love vibrant prints and I didn’t think she chose well for this collection. Uli understands prints. Even, God help me, Anya understands prints. Dom isn’t at that level. I thought her prints were simultaneously garish and washed out. I thought her shapes were dated but I know she was going for a retro 70s look and admittedly that’s not a look that I care for. I don’t like plastic, it looks cheap. That bathing suit was an abomination. I liked the dress she was wearing SO much more than anything she sent down the runway last night.

I just came away with the feeling that the judges had assumed that Dom would be the natural winner based on her season’s performance and that Alexandra surprised them at the end.

I thought Alexandria’s collection looked like someone had thrown very expensive rags at a mannequin. Ugly, ugly, ugly. White, cream, and gray? And those godawful MC Hammer pants. I thought she should have been out weeks ago. And the incessant “I deserve it. I know what women want to wear. I run my own business. I want to win.” Well, honey, let me tell you that you have no clue what this woman wants to wear and I wouldn’t, as a matter of fact, wear poopy pants.

Helen fell apart when she didn’t have anyone to lean on. Kate should have been in the final.

Hated the dress Dom wore, looked like a poncho.

I’ve been a big fan of Dom’s work i the past and she probably would have been my choice for winner (I particularly liked her door hinge dress), but I hated the print she used for an odd reason: it reminds me of the cover of a paperback edition of Elie Wiesel’s Night.

I didn’t think any of the collections were that great. All kind of bland.

The reunion show should be interesting this time, at least.

So glad Dom won!

I was surprised Braden fell apart at the end – also surprised he came in fourth, actually. I thought his charmeuse print was gorgeous and I loved what he did with it.

All of the final speeches were moving – except Justin’s. Sorry, “because I’m deaf” isn’t a reason you should win a design competition.

Yay Dom! This makes the second person from Philly to win. (Jay McCarroll went to Philadelphia University – previously Textile (something something College Textile Science something something.) (Dom went to Moore.)

Do we know who’s going to be on All-Stars, BTW?

Yes.

I’m pretty excited because there’s a ton of people that I found entertaining from the seasons I’ve watched, and it’ll be interesting to see how Ari South (who came out as trans* after her season was filmed) is depicted by the producers and editors. Of course there’s a lot of opportunity for absolute train-wreckiness, to the point that Tom and Lorenzo announced they won’t be covering this season on their blog.

I am sad that TLo won’t be covering All Stars. On the show, the final garments whizz by so quickly. It’s nice to see still photos the next day for more detail but I hate hate HATE Lifetime’s website.

Is there a reunion show? Was there?

Three winners. This could be interesting. But I find Daniel Esquivel utterly exhausting – hope he goes home early.

There will be next week before the premiere of All-Stars.

I too am disappointed at how Braden fell apart. Before this show, I thought Dom and he were going to be the last two.

Heh – swimsuits are for the straight guys – not that bathing suit! Again, being able to make one of those very thin models look dumpy is hard to do but she succeeded.

OMG. I am watching the reunion show and the interaction between Helen and Alexandria maybe the most awkward, uncomfortable moment ever. Helen has no insight into her own behavior. Alexandria was no more critical of her than anyone else, and certainly no more critical than she deserved.

I thought Jeremy was an ass, and now I know. His tweet about Braden and then his response tonight were really mean-spirited, not to mention hypocritical.

Yeah, that was bad. Braden showed no sign of being a camera hog or trying to upstage anyone. He was clearly caught up in the moment and went for it. For Jeremy to stick to his interpretation even looking back on it is petty.

Did anyone watch the All-Stars show? It took me a little while to remember who some of them were, with the changes in their looks!

It takes a lot to get Tim Gunn mad but I believe they succeeded when they claimed rigging.

gigi, I did watch All-Stars. I was shocked by how many people I did recognize, considering that I didn’t start watching PR until it moved over to Lifetime. But then, how many people from the first seasons would still be interested in being on reality television?

Speaking of All-Stars, are we starting a new thread for it, or just using this one?

I started a new thread.
