They mightn’t have said much, but what they did say was pretty complimentary. Zac Posen described it as “really chic.” Nina said, “When i first saw the white, i loved the minimalism of it.”
Thanks, I must have spaced out for a minute.
From the Collected Tweet Wisdom of Helen: Alexandria you’re a TEACHER you keep calling me a student. YOU TEACH STUDENTS, MORON.
I loved Justin’s white outfit. He has the aesthetic I love - lots of attention to how the clothing moves. I’m no fan of Helen, but I liked her things better than Alexandria’s. I just feel like A is stuck on Pretty in Pink, going through a 1980’s closet and tearing up the clothes in new and interesting ways. That’s not what I expect from a mature designer.
They loved Justin’s all white collection. But complained about Alexandria’s all white look when her first model slayed in all black.
Justin is wonderful, but the love he gets is starting to border on sappy.
Interview in the NYT today with Tim Gunn. Some choice quotes:
“I don’t think they like me anymore,” he said of the four already-eliminated contestants working on the sidelines…"
“Some of them apparently think the show was rigged this season, which couldn’t be further from the truth”

What’s up with the stitches on Tim Gunn’s forehead? I must have missed an explanation on the show. Was he struck by a flying iron?
Fell on the subway stairs; four stitches; he’s fine.
And Helen blames him for her elimination in her exit interview.
From the article:
Heh.
Great article. Thanks for the link.
You know, at first I didn’t like Top Chef because Tom Colicchio wasn’t more Gunn-like. But who is?

Caption under the photo from the NYT article:
**Mr. Gunn, a recent Emmy Award recipient, has emerged as a breakout star of “Project Runway.”
**
Has emerged? Dude. He emerged in like, 2004.
Another article quote:
I had never really thought about it, but, given the living situations, I bet it would’ve been really easy for PR to go down the road of tacky, intrusive reality show drama. Glad they’ve managed to keep it (somewhat) classy over the years.
Have there been any sexual antics (that we know about)? Did any of the designers ever date or form a relationship?
I think Alexandria’s inclusion was producer manipulation - in the sense that Heidi is the producer and she liked her, so she’s in. I don’t mind that so much as long as someone else wasn’t aufed because of it.
I think Helen is more talented than either Justin or Alexandria, but I’m glad to see her gone because she’s annoying. Alexandria is not likeable, but at least she’s quietly unlikeable.
Home visits were boring this time. Then again, every home visit seems boring in comparison to Andy and his family’s Hawaiian fish farm.
I call Dom as the winner and Alexandria as the producer-manipulated runner up.
Forgot to say–Justin is totally working the deaf guy angle, but it’s a good strategic move. He’s playing the meta-game to good advantage and that showed in the pieces he chose for the 3-piece collection. Whether it was a calculated choice or not, the deafness–>hearing theme did end up working beautifully in his collection.
Just in case it’s not clear, I’m not criticizing him for meta-gaming. I think it’s smart. Sort of the opposite of those people who go on PR not knowing how to make pants or set in a sleeve.
That Times interview makes me want to hug the man. His attempted suicide at 17 is heartbreaking. It really reminds us of how far gay rights have come and maybe that we still have some work to do. The interview also reminds you of what a fundamentally kind and decent person he is. I wanted to hug him after reading it. I don’t think you can say that about Heidi who seems as bubble headed as ever (remember the season in LA where she was a bitch to Geordana?) or Nina Garcia (who comes across as cold – though I did meet her once somewhere she’ll never admit to being and she praised my daughter’s darling little outfit). The Dutchess was fun but Zac Posen looks like a ten year old pretending to be a man.
Gunn is one of the elements of the show that nearly always works perfectly. In my dreams I get to talk him into writing a book about the history of fashion with me.
Helen’s interview says a lot about who she is as a person, and it ain’t pretty.
Tim, on the other hand, is a sweetheart.
Which interview is that?
Probably mentioned above, but she wished death on Tom and Lorenzo. Speaking of “not pretty!” (scroll down to just below where they show her dress with the star print)
Helen’s exit interview on the PR site. Sorry, wasn’t clear.
You can’t just drop that in and not explain it. If she’ll deny it, just tell us.
Thank god it wasn’t another Gretchen and Mondo scenario; that’s all I have to say about the finale.
Did you know that Justin is deaf?
There was a full three minute stretch last night in which he didn’t mention it once, during which I forgot.
