Project Runway starts again tonight!

I really don’t get why that was so difficult. Does Heidi’s vote count more? I don’t think Alexandria has had a single win or top look. Everything she makes looks like it got caught in a shredder. I have more respect for her knowing that she teaches young kids who are interested in fashion but I really don’t think she should still be in the competition.

X2 for Helen.

I find myself yelling this at the television every time they sit there giving the contestants a laundry list of what could/should have or they would like to have seen done with a garment. Usually those lists are things that are time-consuming and expensive, and delivered in a tone suggesting that it would have been the simplest thing in the world, and the only reason the designer in question didn’t do those things is inherent suckitude and laziness.

Not any of the original fabric, not any of the original silhouette, nothing. It was a shorter version of Helen’s own print challenge piece, done in sort-of similar colors to the piece she was supposed to be reworking. The only thing you could see as a “point of departure” was that it was a white top with a blue skirt.

I’ve been thinking about the fact that there are three people vying for the third spot. They’ve had two people compete for it before, have there ever been three? How crazy indecisive of them, right? But the fact of the matter is that both Braden and Dom clearly deserve to be at fashion week – and the other three are all clearly not as good as Braden and Dom. It really isn’t clear at all which of the three sucks least. Justin actually got eliminated once, and benefited from Tim’s save; Alexandria wasn’t mentioned by any of the other four as deserving to go to fashion week; and Helen, despite her large number of wins, really blew the last challenge, making two garments, neither of which actually fulfilled the terms of the task.

I could see Helen totally crashing when left on her own to work up a collection. She is so dependent upon the others for constant advice and reassurance. Unless she has some very supportive friends and family to get her through this, I think she’ll tank.

I couldn’t believe how uncolorful their ‘butterfly’ garments were. Helen’s was orange and they trashed her for the color. Dom’s was colorful and they loved it. But the other ones were black and/or white. I get so tired of black dresses on PR that I was looking forward to a riot of color in this challenge. But not so much.

I forgot about that, but you’re right. All the contempt for orange was ridiculous. My Grandfather would roll over in his grave if I ever stepped out of the house wearing Orange, and even I thought it was ludicrous. Where was all the ombre worship?!? What, its only for nails now?

That monstrosity she designed last week (the one that I swear I could do a better job than and I’ve never worked a sewing machine in my life) should have sent her home.

IIRC, the only person to mention Helen was Dom and that was more because she likes her as a person.

This has been a game between Dom and Bradon for most of the season. I half suspect they kept Ken around as long as they did to beef up the suspense, and it’s totally the reason they have a 3-way-for-third: I don’t think anybody expects any of the three to outdo the Top Two.

I could not be more excited that Helen is auffed. She can’t take criticism at all. The answer to a critique is not “But I worked so hard on it”. Yeah, and it stinks.

I love Justin to death as a person but I don’t know if he isn’t too gimmicky and can’t sustain a collection.

I’m surprised that Helen is out. I’m not sorry to see her go, but I really thought they would keep her around for the DRAMA!!!

Alexandria’s stuff is really not to my taste at all, but her mini-collection was very cohesive. I really hope that Just uses some color in his final collection; there’s too much black and white coming from his corner.

I can’t remember from previous seasons, but don’t they normally only send three designers to Fashion Week? More accurately, don’t they normally feature only three designers?

In reality, they send about ten designers due to the timing of when Fashion Week was vs when the program airs, so at the FW showing, the public really has no idea of who the top designers are. This year, the Project Runway showing at FW was on September 6.

I loved Justin’s use of the 3D printer to make the accessories. I wonder how much it would cost to create those outfits.

I’m eager to see Dom’s metallic looking outfit.
Tide… really?

Will there be another competition next week to get it down to 3? Because there is that stupid Tide washable thing still to happen.

Glad to see the back of Helen. Actually, did you see the back of that off-the-shoulder strait jacket dress? It had 2 slits with a squared-off tail in the middle. Just horrid.

Apparently she had another meltdown on Twitter.

The best thing about Helen’s off-the-shoulder dress was the model doing her Robot from Lost In Space impersonation.

Of course I can’t remember details, but I seem to remember that at least once they “weren’t able to decide” and sent four people.

This was Part 1 and there are usually two parts, so I am assuming all four will actually go.

Oh, and much as it’s hard to see Alexandria relating to kids, those dolls they made were great!

I loved the unicorn guy doll and Tim Gunn’s!

It’s ridiculous. When the woman said, “I’m proud to be here for Tide, because the Tide consumer *loves *fashion,” i was yelling “fuck off!” at the television.

I also thought it was a cop-out to keep Alexandria. They should have kept one person. And it was clearly Heidi who wanted Alexandria around. Had it been Nina’s choice, Alexandria would have been aufed along with Helen, i think.

I was rooting for Justin to be the third person, but that’s just because I dislike both Helen and Alexandria as people. Helen, esp., obviously, but Alexandria is pretty light on people skills. (It was eye-opening to see her with the kids, though – and those dolls were amazing.)

Designwise, of the three, I think Justin’s was the best, because of the stuff he did with the 3-D printer. None of the three of them wowed me with their mini-collection, though.

Wish Heidi hadn’t thrown her weight around to bring Alexandria.

I don’t have a problem with Alexandria. I think she’s one of those no-nonsense, self-contained people who doesn’t want to feed the workroom drama. Note that Dom and Kate were big buddies of Helen so there could’ve been a little high school clique thing going on as well. Alexandria was much more relaxed and outgoing with her Camp Couture kids.

I laughed when Alexandria showed up with like three times the number of garments as everyone else. I liked her final collection best of all (alllll) the ones shown but she did not have a “wow” piece to finish it off and that will hurt her.

Justin. Nice guy, no one disputes that. But notice the judges did not talk about his 3rd piece, the white outfit. Mom pants with pleats and an oversize tank top. Volume on top and on bottom, not good. I thought the black dress was stiff and boxy, I don’t think the 3-D jewellery complements the garments. The test tube dress was very inspired and dramatic, bravo, but that was a gimmick challenge. They are pandering to the Lifetime audience by keeping him which is so disrespectful of him.

I didn’t like Dom or Braden’s work as much as I thought I would. Dom’s prints looked washed out, I think it was a mistake for her to use her own designs, they are not very good. Braden’s looked too mature, agree with Helen (?!) about his little tulip print. His final gown (not shown yet) is a disaster, he had the skirt of it on the mannequin when Tim arrived for his home visit and yet there was no discussion about it. Sad because Tim could’ve steered him away from that god-awful gigantic ruffle on the bottom.
