I was expecting to see them do something ont he runway to change the look over to Evening Business Event - Add a quick piece of jewelry or a scarf or somehow change into different shoes. (If they’d had a model carrying a Piperlime Accessory briefcase who opened the case at the end of the run, slipped out fabulous shoes and a hat or something, and threw the briefcase over her shoulder and strutted out, that would’ve been cool!
Does no one have anything to say about the judges?
Poor Nina, having to work for that hideous shrew, who yammered something to one designer (paraphrasing) “that dress may be appropriate for some mommy straining acorn squash for her baby, but not for NINA!” With her bleached hair and black rimmed eyes, looking like she’s been dragged through a knothole backwards, and she’s the expert to critique designs? The world has gone mad. She was needlessly mean, humorless and nasty. I hope she wasn’t auditioning to judge future PRs, because that would be wrong.
And I have no idea what Kerry Washington was doing there. I like Kerry, but how is she involved in the world of fashion, other than wearing clothes?
That judge sucked. Who does she think reads her magazine? What a snot nosed bitch!
I thought the winning dress was just bizarre. Gold lame does not strike me as particularly Nina-ish. The side hanging fabric didn’t work either. My personal least favorite was probably that orange dress with the large grey panel that came out first. I thought it was really ugly – very Judy Jetson. I would have auffed that one.

When I first saw that orange/gray panel thing, I thought “Was this the ‘Make new uniforms for Denny’s servers’ contest?”
As for Kerry - I’ve never heard of her. She almost seemed like the producers ran out into the street and said “Hey! Are you anyone? Want to judge a small fashion show?”
I couldn’t believe it when I saw Nina actually WEARING the winning design. It looked hideous! Nina normally has a nice, classic style, but that… that thing… gold lame… gag!
I finally saw this today. I love her for this:
"It reminds me of that movie The Sound of Music where they took the curtains off the windows and made clothes out of them. You know, Marie Antoinette times.
That was* priceless!*
Really, the whole concept of designing for one of the judges is inherently flawed. In one sense they are the client, so the designer has to please them, and the judge has to give them some idea of what they want. But in another sense, because they are a judge, they are limited in how into detail about what they want and what’s wrong with the dress they can get into. It’s all very coy and the complete opposite of what designer-client relationships are really like.*
*OTOH in real life, clients often don’t know what they want/don’t want, or have trouble communicating it. So maybe this is realistic in a way
After seeing what Nina wore the first day of the challenge (UGH!), how can she possibly critique anything as being matronly? and HOW THE HELL did that awful hemline not get slammed by the judges?! After the weewee pad dress and disastrous tutu, he’s still on the show?
I thought the olive green jumpsuit was bad. The back was totally inappropriate. And Cecilia got to stay? I agree, the ‘droat’ needed work, but Cecilia’s dress was even worse.
I’m not a fan of this season yet. It’s like the judges are drawing winners out of a hat. (Lame? Who but Malibu Barbie or a Vegas hooker wears that shit?)
She already has her own PR Masters show in production. And she was auditioning to be the new Anna Wintour . . .
When she said “If Nina came to work in that . . .” and then started going on like the whole place would shut down to gossip about Nina’s nervous breakdown, all I could think was “is that what they did to you today?!?” She seriously seemed to be intimating that Nina contributed nothing at all except walking around the place looking chic.
I really just couldn’t believe what she was wearing. Her dress was supremely boring, ill fitted, (Did you see the puckering at the side seams?) and her shoes matched perfectly, which I’m given to understand is the ultimate fashion faux pas these days.
The rest of the episode was both sexist and a parade of simple stupidity. Picking team leaders on the basis of running ability was obnoxious. Picking Josh the Passive Aggressive Sexist was even worse. Praising Josh the PAS for his “leadership” skills was the dumbest decision in an episode filled with them.
Why didn’t they bring back Julie? Whatisface sat out two challenges and then got back in. Why did Cecelia wait so long when she wanted to leave? Why did they give them so little time? Who the heck was that idiot model sitting in the judge’s chair and why should we care what she thinks?
Josh M. calling Becky dowdy and then saying he wasn’t belittling her was insane. And to be co-winner. They said he was smart to have chosen a team for their various strengths, but they would’ve crucified Becky if she hadn’t produced a look.
That gray dress was seriously ugly. It looked like a feed sack with a rope around the middle. The jacket was cool, though.
I didn’t like the dress with the snaps on the side - I thought it looked sort of like a piece of fabric with a hole cut for the head and snaps added. The shoulders looked like they should have those 1960’s space-costume rolled piping on the side - pseudo-futuristic. It was sort of flattering, though.
I don’t think the winning look was for the dress as much as it was for the jacket. They are selling it on Amazon for over $300! They also have that ‘maxi-dress’ for sale on Amazon but without the bright reddish stripes down the middle. It looks boring.
This show is about ratings and ‘wow’ than it is about fashion, talent, or any sort of logical judging. I could tell what was going to happen in the judging by asking myself, “What would make good tv/fans upset/be a wtf moment?”
Why is Josh M. winning on Anya’s design? Were only the team captains capable of being winners? And will Josh M. just die already?
I rather like the maxi dress (WTF with that name?? I keep thinking it should be super absorbent and have wings) with the stripe. Without the stripe, it’s pretty boring. Actually, most of the clothes are, and have been this entire season.
I caught a bit of season 1 yesterday, and it depressed me. It was so much more interesting, more inspired, more artistically stimulating, and far less produced. All this “design for Nina, design for Heidi” crap is killing this show slowly and agonizingly.
No doubt about that – the show, IMO, has gone downhill since it moved from Bravo to Lifetime. I also blame Bunim/Murray’s production – this ain’t The Real World, so stop manipulating it to make it so!
My biggest criticism is how they’ve duct-taped Tim Gunn this season. You never see/hear him around anymore. His FB page is silent. No anecdotes, no nothing. He’s nowhere near the charismatic mentor he’s always been – anyone can tell he’s just going through the motions.
I was so bummed to see Danielle leave, but she puts up another green chiffonish freaking blouse? It’s Cecelia’s fault, thought I did like her too, but to auf herself like that when in the beginning Serena and Gunther really wanted to get on the show?
I just hope Bert flames out and they bring Danielle back. I am hating on a few, and I dont’ trust Anya at all. I hope Becky brings it on soon.
