I can’t wait for God of War 3. Looks like I’ll have to buy a PS3.
Same here. The original Mass Effect is one of my favorite games of all time. Supposedly if you finished the first one you can import your character and save and the choices you made will affect how the sequel unfolds, in the beginning at least. I’m sure the story will dovetail with the plot they’ve got lined up though.
I’ve got Commander Lisa Sheppard all set and ready to go.
Incidentally, it appears there’s going to be one last piece of DLC released for the original at some point. No word on when yet, but I imagine there going to get this out before Mass Effect 2.
Top of my list are Alpha Protocol and Dragon Age: Origins.
Slightly further down the list is Borderlands, which sounds a bit like what Hellgate: London should have been. It promises to be a lot of fun. Also: Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Championship Manager 09 and Ghostbusters (PC), which I will only buy second-hand.
Games which really excite me, but are a little ways off yet, are Star Wars: The Old Republic, Star Trek MMOG, Starcraft II, Final Fantasy XIII and Diablo 3.
I actually expect Diablo 3 will arrive for the Christmas season o just after (in gaming, the “Christmas season” frequently stretches into January). Of course, this is Blizzard we’re talking about here, but what we’ve seen indicates a high level of polish already. They’re probably just enjoying themselves trickling out information bit by bit. Plus, they probably started development a year or two before they announced it.
My best bud played it at Blizzcon. His review: “I came in my pants.”
Looks like I’ll be taking some “Sick days.”
Also: WoW Cataclysm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah… ohhhh, yeah.
My computer (a laptop due to space considerations) is too crappy to even play the original Mass Effect. I installed it on my husband’s laptop but we’re such WoW addicts that if we’re playing a videogame, it’s probably WoW. Still, someday I’ll get to play the sequel, so that’s still good.
I’m looking forward to a lot of DS games:
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Scribblenauts
Yup. I deleted a level 30 character on my server just to clear up a character slot so I can make a goblin when this expansion is released. My guildies have been making level 1 “filler” characters on their accounts with their preferred name for a goblin (to be deleted immediately before creating the future goblin character).
Two of my favourite games are getting new releases this fall which both seems really promising: Forza 3 (Xbox 360 only) and NHL 10. So I’m happy.
I hear Duke Nukem Forever is coming out soon. No release date yet, but I’m assured it’s release will be soon.
I was originally going to chide you for not keeping up with the news, but I glanced at Wikipedia and I’m horrified to see that the beast has yet to die.
Man are you kidding? No bureaucratic red tape is gonna keep Duke down! Duke Nukem Forever!
Sorry. It’s just that I’ve been waiting for this game for literally half my life.
Just caught a new Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising multiplayer teaser and it looks awesome.
I was skeptical at first that a new developer would come in and do the original justice, but they seem to have maintained the scope, style, and gameplay of the original. If they do this right it could be absolutely awesome.
I hope this video was recorded off the xbox version though and that the PC version will look nicer - the vegetation detail is a bit sparse and some of the textures are blah. Not that it’s bad, but I’d hate to be stuck with 2005 graphics when dx11 cards could make it look spectacular.
FYI to anyone interested in OFP2 I noticed that newegg has it on preorder for $36.99 (PC version) whereas elsewhere it’s a more typical 49.99. I think I may take advantage of it. But it better be good - I’ve never pre-ordered a game in my life, since I don’t want to risk buying an overhyped dissapointment. But this one has me excited.
A big rumored game I’m VERY interested in is Warren Spector’s “Epic Mickey.”
It just looks…awesome. And this rumored screenshot for next month’s Game Informer seems to agree with the “Epic Mickey” project…something “epic” is brewing, with a picture of what is clearly Mickey ears and nose.
Edit: A little more info and art here. One of the most popular rumors for a plot is that the “forgotten characters” of Disney past (like Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who’s head can be seen on a rocket in my latest link) have taken over the Magic Kingdom/Disney Realm/part of our word (notice part of Epcot on the whale?)
That looks incredible, i have serious doubts Disney would let that be done to their characters though.
Wii/DS fanboy checking in…
**Alien Monster Bowling League **(Wii, maybe others but I doubt it)- with a name like that, I don’t know how you couldn’t at least be intrigued. But Jesus, can at least one developer create a decent bowling game besides Nintendo?
**A Boy And His Blob **(Wii)- never played the original, but this one sounds/looks promising.
**Nostalgia **(DS)- alternate-history RPG with real-world cities and a steampunk/dieselpunk kind of artstyle.
**Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks **(DS)- LOVED Phantom Hourglass, so this one’s a no-brainer.
further down the road:
**Metroid: Other M **(Wii)- stupid name, but, c’mon, it’s Metroid. The teaser was amazing, anyway.
**Super Mario Galaxy 2 **(Wii)- I’m with some others here who thought that SMG was a masterpiece, and I can’t wait to see what they do with the sequel. YOSHI!
This.
(But I want it NOW, not in 2010!)
ODST is coming out tomorrow. I may get it, but I only want it for the multiplayer maps.
What the fuck? Apparently Infinity Ward is going to fuck PC gamers lin the face with an attempt to provide their own bullshit server matchmaking system instead of using the standard dedicated server model that EVERY SUCCESSFUL FUCKING GAME IN 12 YEARS HAS USED.
“With dedicated servers and the server browser that comes with them replaced with custom-built matchmaking, PC gamers will have an online experience functionally identical to console players. Among other things, this means that clans can’t run their own servers with their own mods and rulesets for their own private (or public, if they feel like crushing some scrubs for giggles) use.”
We don’t want your shitty console matchmaking system, you fucktards. No one has ever wanted that. It’s easy to create a dedicated server program and IT HAS THE NICE BENEFIT OF THE COMMUNITY PROVIDING THE SERVERS FOR YOU so you don’t even have to do it yourself. You dumb fucks, if you just do it the way every other successful game has done it, you both save money and make the final experience better.
I’ve been looking forward to this game more than any other in 2 or 3 years, was going to buy it the minute it became available to me, and I feel like they just took a big shit on my head. Activision is a shitty corporation run by an asshole and now even Infinity Ward has gone retarded. Fuck.
