So what happened to the co-worker? He hook up with some random woman at the restaurant?
You’re obviously playing one of those inferior RPGs. In the Only Good One, an 05 is the best you could do. But even if your lovecraft is built up to a respectable 118, a roll of 00 means that the boyfriend pops out of nowhere and swings at the middle of your body with the edge aspect of his broadsword. Oh yeah, and he’s the son of the Earl.
Ahem. Whiteknight, do you see who you are asking for advice about women? Don’t you think you might want another board for this topic? Y’know, one with men who have actually met women? :dubious:
(I’m kidding. I love you guys. Now who drank all the Mountain Dew, dammit?!)
Excuse me, but I have high standards. I am holding out for either a 6th level she-elf, or 7 of 9.
Shows what you know. I met my wife at a D&D game. Now who’s rolling critical fumbles, punk?
Funny you should mention that, as I’ve heard it before. I don’t think we look too similar beyond the fact that we’re both halfies.
Her name was on there too.
He was still driving in from out of town.
Indeed, though since I’m looking for general opinions rather than “advice about women,” I figure it’s acceptable.
What? I dated a rather hot Balamob for several years. We’re still friends.
Two other possibilities:
-
The random woman would have sex with you, then give you a mickey-laced drink that put you to sleep. When you awoke, you’d see the taunting WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF AIDS! scrawled in lipstick on a handy mirror.
-
Replace second sentence in above paragraph with “When you awoke, you’d find yourself in a vat of rapidly melting ice, with your body freshly marred by a rough incision in the general area of your kidneys.”
“Recognize this number? It’s my credit score, and it’s good enough to get me picked up by supermodel-hot chicks. Log onto creditscoregratis.com now for a free report on your likelihood of being approached in bars and restaurants by gorgeous people who want to have sex with you!”
Oh, and welcome to the ranks of posters, Whiteknight!
Since everyone’s talking about the credit card I just want to ask - are you sure she wasn’t a manager or another employee of the restaurant? I’m a server and every once in a while my manager will run someone’s CC for me if I am really busy or they are trying to pay out quickly and I’m not around.
Of course I can’t be sure, but she was dining with other people and didn’t seem to be performing any other duties of an employee. So unless she was off the clock, dining in the establishment where she works, and decided to try to pickup a patron, my guess would be that she does not work there.
Not a big criticism, but didn’t you just leave the poor woman hanging? Instead of trying to get her to see your ring and telling her you were flattered, shouldn’t you have pointed out the fact that you were married, to her? Say, “I’m really flattered, but as you can see, I’m taken.” If as you say she wasn’t particularly ravishing, maybe she was goaded by her friends to make a move as a confidence building exercise, because she thought you were cute.
Personally, considering the facts that you gave, not a looker, same age, in a group with friends, I think you just blew her off.
I’ve had that thought as well and I almost felt bad about it at first. However, I’ve given you the wrong impression if my post makes it seem like she wasn’t good looking. I just said that she wasn’t a knockout in the sense that I didn’t feel like she was so far out of my league that it must be a joke. Based on appearance alone (from what my somewhat hazy memory can recall), I am certain that she would have no problem getting attention or calls from many men in any sort of singles environment. Also, by the time I’d actually stopped to think about it, I’d already gotten rid of the number.
No need. Women blow off guys all the time. Her come-on was pretty blatant, almost masculine; your refusal was standard. It just feels odd because the traditional roles were reversed.
There’s really no way to know WTF was going on. My first thought was that she was a pro, but her being with a group undercuts that. Women coming on to random guys like this (assuming the guy isn’t gorgeous, famous, fabulously wealthy, or any combo of the three) is extrememly rare. My best guess is that she had just either found out her man had cheated on her, or was getting a divorce, and wanted to make it with a random guy for revenge. That would explain why she ignored your wedding ring.
I am a lady who is very direct with men. If I see a hot guy I will not hesitate to give him my number (I always check for a ring though, and I have business cards with my cell number on them which prevent me from having to see your personal financial information.) I would not feel bad at all if a man was not interested because quite honestly I’m not expecting to marry a man I saw in a diner once or something so it isn’t a crushing blow. I suspect that she may be like me-full of self confidence and willing to put it out there in hopes of meeting someone to get to know a little better. I wouldn’t worry about it at all. Throwing away the number was a dumb thing to do though because if there was credit card fraud later that would have been a good clue as to how to track down the probable culprit.
I can’t for the life of me remember the last time I saw my entire CC number on my receipt. So what’s all this talk about fraud?
Also, I think the OP is over analyzing the situation. Fer Christ sakes man! Indulge you ego and chalk this lady up as yet another victim of your unyielding animal magnetism!
I’ve been sneered at by random women. Does that count for anything?
Whiteknight, you said the phone number was local. Do you happen to remember it?
I know kung fu.
She was a hooker.
Common enough.
Was the restaurant in a hotel, or bar? If so, more common.
The restaurant was not in a hotel or bar, it was a Cheesecake Factory to be specific, located in an fairly nice area with several other similar restaurants.
My CC number was not on the receipt, but she had the actual card as well, which I had given to my waitress.
