I’ll be at the Old P. tomorrow.
Mitt huvud trillar av och det är fullt av godis.
I’ll be at the Old P. tomorrow.
Mitt huvud trillar av och det är fullt av godis.
Er… that last line shouldn’t be in my post. I have no idea why or how it got there.
I wish I could say you can look forward to that kind of thing, but it doesn’t translate well into reality. I mean that in every way you can imagine.
But what does it mean? I think I can pronounce it (if it is, indeed, Swedish), but I have no idea what I would be pronouncing.
Oh, and I’ll be there tonight. I might be a bit late, but I’ll be there.
I’ll be there, hubby may come too, but he might not play
I’ll be at the OP around 6, so I should be able to reserve the big table by the window and the stage. At least, I will try, as it seems to be a good location for a large group. Look for the table with the bright yellow “SDMB Trivia Team” sign sitting upon it.
I know nothing of the Northern languages (except, of course, if you count English as one of them), but I think the words “det är fullt av godis” translate as “that are full of goodies.” It isn’t another language, it’s just phenomenally-poor spelling.
Well, I’d been browsing websites a few days ago, checking out “useful foreign phrases” or some such thing. I don’t know if it got copied/pasted somehow into my post, or what. Computer ghost, probably. That’s it.
Anyway, pasting this phrase into Google brings up the fact that it’s Swedish, and also that it translates into:
My head falls off and it is full of candy.
Like I said, no promises.
I should be there, probably in the 7:30ish range. I’m expecting we’ll be two teams tonight – maybe pick randomly once everybody’s there?
I don’t think inkysplotchy will be showing up, but I’ll let him answer definitively.
What’s the team size limit? And how much is it per person or per team to enter? (gotta make sure I bring enough cash!)
At the old PQ, the limit is 5 people per team. Happily for Mr. picunurse, more people can be sitting together as long as one of them pledges not to participate.
Entry is $5 per team.
Cider is available.
5 to a team, $5 per team to enter.
Are you sure it isn’t Norwegian? You do live in Ballard you know You are bringing your head full of candy tonight, right?
Alas, I am out of the Tuesday trivia circuit until Mayish. I have managed to give the coach the impression that I have talent, which he wants to beat out of me on Tuesday nights. Mondays, however, are fair game.
Good luck in Ballard!
Norwegian. Well, uff da. It could be.
And aye, I’ll be there. My husband is swanging by the bank to get me a little cash. He came home a little early for lunch, saying he didn’t feel well, and I began my little worry routine, and said I could stay home with him if he wanted me to. Suddenly, he was feeling much better, and told me I was going come hell or high water, and he was going to escort me there personally. And leave me there until I’ve had my fill of fun and met some people.
So I’ll be there.
And how will I know you guys?! Amarinth, if she’s there, will be easy enough to spot - but will she be there? I might be easy to spot, it looks windy and cold out there, so I’ll probably be wearing my burgundy wool coat and a fuzzy golf cap.
Since I expect to be the first one there, I’ll try to get a table near the stage. I’m hoping to get the one by the window, because I remember it as the largest table in the place. If I can’t get that one, I’ll push two tables together and claim them as our domain.
I have made up a bright yellow sign that will stand, tent-like, on the table. It has one of Slug’s inimitable drawings and the words “SDMB Trivia Team”.
I’m hoping to get there around 7-ish.
And in case nobody recognizes me, it’s because, as I’m playing Einstein, I had to shave off my chin whiskers but leave the mustache, which has prompted some of my officemates to start calling me “Officer Burt Reynolds” and similar variations on the theme.
I’m in - but I’ll probably not be there until after 7:30 (but before 8. Parking isn’t anywhere near as hard to come by as it is at the G&D).
inkysplotchy, we could’ve used you for the sports round. Or maybe the other team would’ve used you for the sports round. Anyway, there was an entire 10-question round dedicated to sports. Actually, just football. We got 4 right because 1 was related tangentially to Survivor and another to politics.
Anastaseon, I enjoyed your head candy.
picunurse, I enjoyed glaring across the table at you in friendly rivalry, even though we weren’t properly introduced.
Both of you should come again, most definitely. And we’ll have to coordinate a trip to Cervaise’s play.
I had fun. Sorry I was so shy. I tried a little bit. Sometimes my mind wandered, but I’m off my ADD meds, so if I was staring at anyone curiously or looked away really quick, it wasn’t because you had beer on your chin, I just wasn’t there.
Damn head candy.
I’ll get less shy as time goes on.
Now, I hope my hideousness doesn’t give anyone nightmares. I’ve been living quietly in a hole for two years, what do you expect?
I thought that was because you’re Canadian.
owww! stop hitting me!
Oh, stop it. You’re cute and you have gorgeous skin. I hope you’ll keep joining us – you too, picunurse – because we need more girl trivia dopers! Especially since amarinth and Lady Cheek and I can’t all seem to get there on the same night.
Oh, that’s it. You think you’re having trouble getting there on the same night now, you’re gonna find it a lot harder from now on.
Good day! I am done with you. I said good day!
Glad to see everyone had a good time (did you win?). I’m sorry I missed Anastasaeon and picunurse, but as I said earlier, we should be good for most upcoming Tuesdays.
