…and Satan’s goin’ away!!!

that’s amazing. that’s the first thing that popped into my head. when i want to get something out of my head, i start whistling the theme to sesame street…won’t you show me how to get, how to get to sesame street!

let me know if it works.

We live in an age that reads to much to be wise, and thinks too much to be beautiful–Oscar Wilde

Won’t you tell me how to get…

Sheesh!

Can you tell me how to get…

Hmmm I could always change my name…but i don’t care…

now you have me singing the damn song!

“Only when he no longer knows what he is doing, does the painter do good
things.” --Edgar Degas

I say again…

Sheesh!

I find that when a song is stuck in my head, a chorus of “the Name Game” always knocks it out. Of course some might say the cure is worse than the disease, but that’s neither here nor there.

“The Naaayyyme…Gaaayyyyme:
OPAL!
Opal-Opal-bo-bopal
Banana-fana-fo-fopal
Fee-fi-mo-mopal…
Opal…”

I forget the name of the guy who wrote this, but he also wrote “Old Dogs, Children, And Watermelon Wine”.

That song is a-drivin’ me crazy
I gotta hear it again
(bum bum bum bum)
First time I heard it
I was with some friends
It’s a simple little song
You can, sing along
It’s an old-time melody
Won’t you play that crazy little
Song again for me?
– Sylence

And now, for my next trick, I will talk in spooky half-references.

Sylence,
Was it Tom T. Hall ? Or maybe Bobby Bear ?

ChiefScott,
Thanks so freaking much, first the ending line of one song which stays in my head. Now another song. Are you trying to make me crazy ?

Now try that one, you know you watch too much TV when you get a commercial jingle in your head!

Puff the magic dragon, lived by the sea
And frolicked in the Autum Mist
In a land called Harlany(sp?)

I think he frolicked in Honalee - spelling uknown.
The songs that get stuck in my head these days are the ones played by my son’s music boxes (‘People in Your Neighborhood’ was there for over a week) and cassettes (presently being haunted by ‘Gaston’ from Beauty and the Beast…“I’m especially good at expectorating, ptooie!”

techchick, I do believe that’s “gone goldfishin’”.

'twould make sense considering its from a commercial for the darn things.

And of course for those of you that are They Might Be Giants fans…

It’s nobody’s business but the Turks…

When I was a kid I thought the refrain for “Blue Tail Fly” was:
“Gimme that corn and I don’t care,
The Master’s throwing it away!”
