I have a chair called “the Push Button Chair” that was (accroding to plaque on back) mfg by the Royal Chair Company in Sturgis, Michigan.
The chair is quarter sawn oak with decorative carved front feet.
On the right arm, inset, is a button that when pushed, reclines the back (kinda like a “Morris Chair”). The front of the chair appears to have previously had some sort of pull out leg support - sort of like a modern recliner.
This chair company went out of business in 1928. The patent on the chair is 1900.
I have done a whole bunch of internet searches and have found only very sketchy information on this chair (i.e. company went out of business in 1928)
Any info appreciated.
I am re-doing chair and it will sit in my living room for the forseeable future and I am curious about this thing.
