That’s funny but somewhat true. However, he is too young to have any real world experience. I suspect he is much brighter than given credit for. It’s hard when you discover all of the shit your parents (dad?) have been force feeding you up to this point is starting to seem suspect. Yes, his guidebook is out of date but he’s only in high school.
I don’t understand the hard-on Dopers have for this kid. Attack his ideas with counter examples like you do with the other wingers and knock off the “troll!” ‘arguments’. It’s been demonstrated in past threads (and in this one) he is who he says he is.
If that means make it relevant to something in the last 60 years, yes. It’s like he is stuck in some pre-WWI time warp, and everything has to be referenced to the Gilded Age. Just stop.
Eh, we have plenty of meaningless partisan sniping on the board. If Qin is going to participate, at least doing so with references to semi-obscure historical figures makes it more interesting.

I think Dopers have a soft spot for this kid. Bright, socially awkward, and the impending train wreck in a couple of years when he begins to develop his own genuine opinions. I have sympathy for his circumstances. He has a difficult time understanding people and social norms, tracked into special ed, and seems to be raised in a sidestream environment where he can’t observe normalcy. The Dope may be his foothold in reality. I think he gets his parents approval, in general, and to participate on the SDMB, by posting his anachronistic conservative dogma.
It’s just the opposite - there is a core of assholes who have it in for him.
He’s young, conservative, and Christian, so the snarkers gang up on him and see if they can make him cry. It hasn’t worked so far, so apparently a 15 year old with Asperger’s is more than a match for them.
I think the conservative part is pretty far down on the totem pole of why he’s annoying. The Christian part is probably higher, at least for me. He’s so smug and convinced of his own intellectual prowess, and yet he can’t overcome the most basic of stepping stones on the way to a sharp mind - religion.
I for one heartily approve of “conservatives” having enough historical basis to make pre-Gingrich references. The main right wing attitude in the media pretty much has Newt as a Founding Father and Reagan as a half-forgotten figure of its Genesis myth.

This is the stupidest damn thread. Qin gets pitted here for not acting like a teenager, and then others jump on the guy for acting like a fucking teenager. He can’t win here. I get that y’all don’t like the guy, but you are grasping at straws.
I don’t see how this contradicts anything I said. Regardless of the reason, he gets smug based on his supposed intellect and then turns around and proves he lacks the most basic of critical thinking tools. A lot of somewhat intelligent religious people are guilty for something similar, but they don’t come off as smug and cocky and superior in everything they say as consistently.
I don’t pay much attention to him as a poster, but when I have, I’ve found his posts to be sorely lacking in factual content. Not unlike a lot of posters here. I’m not even sure he’s the worst offender on the right, with respect to that, but there are quite a few posters here that I don’t pay much attention to.
