I LOVED this guy! I think he’s one of the best they’ve done. Unlike the dufus last week, George actually is tough and sensitive. He chased some guy down and took a bullet for his mom and nearly cried when the guys were leaving. He’s definitely a mamma’s boy, but if the way he treats his mother is any indication of the way he treats his girlfriends, this guy is a good catch. He needs work, but he’s got great raw material. And some other girl has already spent five years on him, so there’s not as much to do.
The reason he’s living in his mother’s house is because he broke up with his live-in girlfriend, so at least he hasn’t been there all along. He’s definitely needy in some areas, but he can actually work a room beautifully, he’s very confident (I love that he kissed Carson a couple times and didn’t make it a big deal), he’s open to new ideas and seems like an honest-to-goodness terrific guy.
I think out of all the shows, the Fab 5 did more for George than anyone of the others. Or I guess maybe George took more away from it than any of the others did. I bet now that he’s turning over a new leaf, that old girlfriend comes back.
And the jokes are getting saucier by the episode! The Seimans/semen couch comment was so over the top, that’s the kind of raunch that makes the world go 'round. Wooooo! I hope this show never goes bad. Jai is really starting to grow on me, he’s so sweet, I think he’s just there because no one can bear to let him go. And he does come in handy now and again.
George V. was great! And I think a lot of Carson’s jokes will get edited out when and if NBC reruns this one
How sweet was his Mom? The Fab Five loved her as much as George, although they didn’t buy her new clothes like Model Girlfriend last week. I think the natural way that the Five appreciate and get along with women will help with those who think that being gay means a rejection of womankind. And when you consider that he’s a first-generation, apparently only child, that she’s widowed (I thought) and raised him as a single Mom, and the price of housing in NYC and the fact that she had two stories, it makes sense that he lives with her for now.
I love how they venture bravely and matter-of-factly into The Outer Boroughs. Vincent the ballad singer was from Co-op City in the Bronx. Da Bronx was in the house!! Do you know how rare that is to see without the words “burning” and “poverty-stricken” or “Yankees” in the same sentence?
George is a perfect son, perfect host, and he’s way too good for that girl, but he deserves a fling with her and then to find somebody for life. He seems like commitment guy.
But almost no Greek jokes. A gay show with almost no Greek jokes?
I thought calling his member Alexander The Great was a Greek joke. And almost made me snarf my drink.
What’s not to love about George? This episode was all heart and kindness. Thom was amazing with his ability to match design to George’s personality. I wasn’t loving the clothing choices so much. But the haircut was muy excellente. Jai continues to be useless eye candy.
Part of me winces when Carson makes one of his jokes but another part of me is growing to like them. I mean all the entendres, who cannot chuckle?
Out of curiosity- some friends who are considering moving to NYC and I were discussing it- does anybody have any idea how much a place like Vincent’s in Co-op City would go for? I’m guessing that by far the most expensive place yet shown on the place was John’s (the gorgeous cowboy who proposed to his gorgeous Armenian girlfriend).
Gay as I am, I’ll still be paying extra close attention to the dance lessons next week. I don’t know which is more embarassing for me: being a gay guy with no rhythm, a southerner with no accent, or a broadly built guy with no butt.
Sampiro, although you sound decidedly unattractive ;), here’s the Village Voice focus on Co-op City. It’s very nice if sort of isolated and with more concrete than I like, but by definition you don’t rent there. A co-operative is a sort of condo of apartments; I live in one. Very family-oriented but socially progressive.
Maybe John’s gorgeous place was in Hoboken or Brooklyn? Rather distinctive brownstone.
Whoops, according to the bravotv website, which gives great little summaries and stats, John B.'s in Jersey City. Don’t laugh, since the trolley line came in it’s got some great neighborhoods.
greek families are extremely close unless there is a major hidden problem. the norm is not to move out of the family home unless you are getting married. even then it may not happen. i’m surprized that george has a separate space from his mom, that is rather amazing.
i can’t wait to see this one.
i think jai is in charge of: how to act, what are the trends in the arts, what to say. i think thus far he was best with brian and vinny. he is the nice wrap and bow on the mb gift. you could give a gift in a wrinkled paper bag but wrap and bow adds that special touch that says: " you are worth a bit of extra work and expence."
i like Jai the culture guy! His tips for the straight guys are practical and easy to understand…most guys don’t know how to read body language or how to act around a girl, because no one ever told them!!
Last nites episode was great.
The fab5 are a bunch of jokesters and thats what i like about them-they crack me up!
when they were eating lamb -“look! its a meat pop!”
the belt loops - too funny!
the lamb marinade on the asparagus - “its okay! no one’s gonna die”
