Query concerning French (Quebecois?) song

I heard this song over voice-chat on Yahoo! once. I tried to search on it, but I wasn’t very successful, and the French was indecipherable as far as “no cognates to pick out”. I think the title is “Ja’i un bouton sur la Lange” and it’s by La Bolduc. (That’s what the guy typed, anyway.) Might anyone here know any background on this song?

Hmmm… my mother’s maiden name was Bolduc. Her dad’s family was French Canadian. That’s about the only thing that rings a bell, though.

Here’s a link to the lyrics (in French):

If you’re desperate for an English translation, I can try to help, but the song is in pretty colloquial French and my grasp of French is more in the literary style (i.e., I’ve never had much chance to talk in it!)

Run that page through babelfish:

Whoo-wee that brings tears to the kidneys.

Damn that’s a lot of joual-- but I think that’s a song about a guy who’s picked up herpes from going down on his girlfriend.

I could be wrong, since I’m only a poor anglo from Montreal.

Here’s a translation :

Here I am in big trouble
I have a pimple on the tip of my nose
When I look,
It sure makes me cross-eyed
I tell you, it hurts a lot
It makes me worry
I used a good balm
It healed in no time

Chorus :
And I have one on the tip of my tongue
Which prevent me to trill
And also make me stutututututu
tututututter

I have a nail on my neck nerve
As big as a quarter
I have another on my lower ear
That I use as an earring
I swear they do not tarnish
They’re guaranteed 14 karats

Chorus

I have trouble walking
I have a bite under my foot
When I put my nice shoes
I tell you, it makes me limp
It happened of last summer
When I was in the Saguenay
I went swimming
And a crawfish pinched my foot

Chorus

Sometimes I have rhumatism
Other, my skin is hot
When I eat pea soup
I have heartburns
To heal my backache
I eat buckwheat leaves
If this goes on
They will sing my Libera

Chorus

If you are like this my friends
It means you are in trouble
I have advice for you
Go get treated
Before it goes too far
Go see a doctor
When you wait too long
It ends by a burial

Thanks so much for your input. You all have helped greatly!

You’re welcome. Here you can read about the artist, Mary Travers, AKA La Bolduc.
