Any Svengoolie fans here?

For those who don’t know who Svengoolie is, he’s a Chicago area tv show host of schlocky sci fi and horror movies, and makes fun of them MST3K style. He was making fun of bad movies waaaay before MST3K ever existed. I have been watching Svengoolie since I was a kid. He’s probably been doing the schtick for a good 20 years now. I think he’s fun. Sometimes the stuff he shows is so horrible, I can’t stand it, but I watch just to see what Sven does to it. He often alters the soundtracks and all sorts off goofy stuff… kind of like “Kung Pow Enter Fist.”

I watched him when I was a kid, and a few times in his more recent incarnation. Mainly what I remember was his riff on “Y.M.C.A.” with regards to the movie Village of the Damned, and the new title was “White Eyes, We’ll Slay”.

Without making any actual accusations of inspiration, Sven has pointed out that the MST2K guys grew up in suburban Chicago.
