As to the testing … not how I saw it. He was in full testing mode tooo busy to do anything else when he was pegged for VP. Then it dropped. Sharon had told him there were some specific number of other cylons in hiding when he threatened to kill the chief. Other than 3 we never heard more about it. Guessing that the one I have not met yet is one of them? But why none seen on the ships or under occupation? I guess I’ll find out … or not.
Yes he was, but then he used his position of VP to go to Kobol which is where he was when Sharon activated. Since he’d already cleared Sharon’s name his test was dropped since it was no longer trustworthy.
Sharon was in the brig when Baltar got the number from her of how many Cylons were in the fleet. I honestly don’t remember her exact number but I think it’s pretty close when you look at it at the end of the series.
When they were under occupation they knew about the major 7 models and they and their clones were located all over the place.
This is dealt with indirectly by the least hot cylon model, who does NOT want to be in a organic human body but would prefer a machine.
How I saw it:The cylons have an obsession and religious imperative to be “more human than human” and creating endless copies of a body in a vat and downloading a basic personality template to it doesn’t satisfy them. They want to bump uglies and do it the old fashioned way. The question of WHY? is answered in a late show info dump episode.
Oh and total fanwank, but I always had it in my head the “baby needs love” shit was crap the cylons spout. They just failed in duplicating human sperm cells sufficiently so the hybrid farms never worked(or may have before Kara torched them).
