It’s a vintage style but a new dress. I do think it’s the one I linked last Feb/March. It was the first one I really liked and I stuck with it, despite everyone warning me not to buy a wedding gown without trying it on!
Well, we just got the OK to leave so I’m outta here! I’ll have to tell everyone the cruise stories next week.
Merry Christmas!!!
CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAXI!!!
Nap, food, work. Back from downtown. It’s raining and miserable.
That is a drawback to the new super-quiet machines! We were looking at one of the LG Tromm washers that’s so quiet, the remote monitor is highly recommended as you otherwise won’t know what it’s up to if you’re not in the same room.
It’s finally looking and sounding like Chirstmas out there.
Cars are backed up in all directions, horns are honking, kids are squalling. The line to get into the parking garage is at least a block and a half long. There seem to be more beggars than usual with cutsey signs like “Wife kidnapped, I’m 98¢ short” Yup, it’s Christmas in SF.
Doggie, I knew you were a man. Your manliness just glows through the Intranet, I guess, where Mindfield’s sort of…doesn’t.
Sorry, Mindfield.
TAXI! This picture just made me sigh. You look so lovely!
Congrats and Happy Birfday, Taxi! You look lovely in your dress.
and Happy Birfday, Drae!
I don’t remember who’s sick, (except me) so get well! now!
I think Kai is to be congratulated too, something to do with a baby?
ON!?! There’s an ON!? Maybe that’s why my clothes take so long to dry!
A friend of ours just came in a gave me a bag containing 2 pounds of Hershey’s extra dark chocolate squares with cranberries, blueberries, and almonds. As you may have heard me say before, I’m not a big fan of Hershey’s chocolate, but I’m a huge fan of FREE chocolate, so Whoo! and Hoo!
Iffen you don’t see me again, and really, why should you? Merry Crispness!
Slow progress is being made on the housecleaning.
I have put my serfs (read children) to work! The are actually doing a fairly decent job. Basically, I just want them to put the crap away so that all I need to do is dust, vacuum, and steam cleaning. The steam cleaning will be done tonight when nobody will walk on the carpet.
I still need to take a shower, but I’ve been busy with the housecleaning. Additionally, I need to clean my damn fridge! Somebody spilled Hershey’s syrup on a couple of shelves in the fridge. Plus, there’s just the general ick build up in there. Since people will SEE my fridge, it must be cleaned. Sigh.
I still have to do the upstairs too! Good grief! I foresee a long night ahead of me.
BooFae - Well, Laz, our shipper, called me “sexy” despite being a straight male. I’m not sure if that’s a testament to MindWife’s taste in apparel or not, though.
Mika - Was there something in the coffee thread that pegged me as a chick drink person? It’s the chai, isn’t it? It’s not a very masculine drink. So, yeah, okay. I like flavoured coffee, and damnit, I’m going to bring some manly essence to the beverage!
(Now why am I suddenly thinking of the old Irish Spring commercials that ended with a woman in a lilting brogue saying, “…but I like it, too!”)
But yes, the hair is a sort of mid-to-light brown (occasionally streaked with blonde, but not today – it would have been if I hadn’t accidentally put the tube of conditioner in the colouring base instead of the tube of colouring gel like a doofus), and I’m straddling the mid-30s. I have a slightly goofy smile. I’m a bit of a goofy person so I suppose that fits.
But it’s not my fault that I don’t exude manliness in my mannerisms. I never wanted to be a white collar worker. I wanted to be … a LUMBERJACK!
But no, seriously. What is it? My sense of humour? My taste in coffee? Did I drunkenly admit that I had a mangina on the boards? It was that, wasn’t it? I knew I shouldn’t have had that last shooter. sob
Rosie - I do believe that’s my first HI]Y*D. Hee hee.
PuppyServant - I hadn’t thought about, but now that you mention it there’s this tiny hole in the wall with faint burn marks around the edges, and he has had that shifty look in his eyes as he obsessively cleans his pointed teeth with his tongue…
So, the Christmas luncheon is out of the way and it went quite well. We started off with cheese bread, nachos with three cheese dip topped with chopped jalapeños and tomatoes, and battered chicken fingers with dips. Pretty standard grill fare, except this was more of the upper crust variety that looked and tasted a whole lot better. I had a couple of beers with my appetizers, too. I rarely drink, and the last time I had a beer I think was at a business meeting last spring at the same restaurant, so the first sip of that ice cold Corona in a chilled glass was sweet. Then came the salad – I had a house salad with Italian dressing. It wasn’t Italian in the proper sense; the salad had finely chopped egg, bacon adn croutons in it, and the lettuce included a wide variety of tender baby greens, which was awesome. The dressing was great, too – a thick and creamy Italian. Then the main course arrived. I had a ridiculously tender New York Striploin topped with chopped garlic, freshly ground cracked black pepper and a very nice peppercorn gravy with garlic mashed N.O.T. on the side. For dessert, I just had a B-52 coffee. I was sorely tempted to try the Raspberry Swirl cheesecake with caramel raspberry coulis drizzle, but I figured I’d already consumed a weekend’s worth of calories, so I stuck to the coffee. We also did the gift draw. There were 8 gifts in total, and I didn’t win this year. Either did LP, one of my cow-orkers who worked in the back, and as she does every year she pitched a mock fit for having lost her – what, fifth? Sixth consecutive year? Actually I’m sure her fit was half serious, as one story was recounted to me from a couple of years back that she got pretty toasted at the party (yes, the company buys the alcohol, too) and ended up complaining mightily to FM, who was her ride home that afternoon, about losing out yet again. But she’s a nice gal anyway. I’m “off [her] list” though because I got to draw a number and it wasn’t hers.
So now I’m off for the next 5 days. ::glee::
Congrats on the wedding, taxi and Keith. Great pictures.
Okay, I’m going home now to bask in the misery of The Sick. I slept ten hours last night (I rarely sleep more than 6) and feel like I could do it again tonight. Yea Friday!
Merry Christmas y’all. See you next week.
omfg
Jeez, I keep doing that.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAXI!
I honestly think I felt you were too much like me to be male.
Which actually if you think about it is a sort of compliment.
I do have to point out this:
requires one *hell *of a <snerk>.
It’s time for another AC story! We, the admins in our group, went to lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory, because it’s inexpensive. I had the whole wheat psgetti (what?) with mizithra, yum! and water to drink, because mizithra’s salty. AC ordered the most expensive thing on the menu. So we muddle through lunch, with AC jumping in with inappropriate comments on occasion. And then the bill comes. AC puts in $10, which covers her meal, plus tax and tip. She proceeds to take $3 out of the pile, and then tells NC that “I would put more in but that’s all I have.” Two of those dollars were my change, and the third was for the tip. That’s why I put in $10, I guess, knowing that she would skim off the top, and I’m better off financially than the other two. The three of us have collectively decided that we won’t be doing that again. I didn’t say anything, because I’m afraid I would have gotten quite loud, and I didn’t feel like losing my temper over $2. The upside is that she’s heading home to Michigan tomorrow and won’t be back until January. Maybe she’ll get snowed in, like she did last year.
Oh. Well, in that case, thank you. My masculinity has been reaffirmed.
Og help me, for once I didn’t actually intend there to be anything dirty with that statement. And anyway we were talking about coffee, not ranch dressing.
::urg::
You know, I forgot to offer my congratulations to taxi and Keith T. Congrats! I hope you both find happiness, love, peace and success together.
Remember the annoying nephew I wrote about earlier? The one who breaks all my stuff and generally makes an ass of himself when he consumes too much alcohol?
Well, today he called my husband and said, “Hey! I need your truck and you to haul my sofa to the dump!” Uh, what? The hubby told him no; traffic is already atrocious and we have too much stuff to do on our own.
This was the topper, though. The nephew just met some girl at a coffee stand; hasn’t been out with her or anything. He told my husband, “I’m going to bring her to your house for Christmas Day”. Thank goodness Mr. Taters put his foot down and told him that he is NOT going to do that. The nephew responded that maybe he’d just take the girl to Denny’s or something and not come over. Uh, like that’s going to make us feel guilty? HELL NO! My hubby told go ahead and have fun.
Look, it would be entirely different if this was some long term relationship or something. But, he literally just met this girl.
The last time he did that to us (without our permission) he and the strange girl that he’d brought to my home were in our bathroom doing WAY more than making out. I was furious and grossed out.
Ugh! What a maroon!
To those of you who won’t be around for Christmas, have a very Merry and Joyous Christmas! Hugs to all of you!
Still more cleaning to do, but I am seeing light.
What zelie what??? I’m on pins and needles here.
Taters good on Mr.Taters! I remember the story of nephew and the girl in the bathroom. The boy needs to grow up.
Geesh, where have I been all day that I missed all that?
Happy Happy Burfday Taxi!!
and, dang you are one beeyootiful bride, if I may say so.
I spent my morning with the especially boring guy who came to do a home inspection for us - the builder pays for this at 12 and 15 months.
Then went to work for all of two hours, and ran out to (horror!!) the mall for one last thing, then the gym, then the (double horror!!) the grocery store and just now made it home.
But home is home for three days with not much at all to do but eat and drink with abandon. Well, after my work party tonight, which should be a good time, I work with fun people.
Ok, into the shower, no peeking anyone.
Especially you mika, you with the confused gender issues.

I drove a TRAIN!!!
Oh and happy birthday to Drae and Taxi!
Arghhhhhh…I’m late, I’m late (although it apparently fits the little brother’s timing really well… Almost forgot my passport (really the only item I need).
Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Hannukah (it’s still Hannukah, right?), joyous Kwanzaa, wonderful Diwali, happy solstice, and generally an excellent holiday season, whatever you celebrate!
Probably won’t post again till next year… on the 1st, I’m guessing.
GT
Well WOOHOO!!! That’s a good thing right? Go zelie!
Have fun in Mexico gt!
