Quick, what's your current earworm?

Don’t Let Me Down (rooftop version)

We re-watched Saving Mr. Banks, about Mary Poppins’ author and Walt Disney. So…

*Oh, it’s a jolly holiday with Mary
Mary makes your heart so light
When the day is gray and ordinary
Mary makes the sun shine bright!

Oh, it’s a jolly holiday with Mary
No wonder that it’s Mary that we love!
*

It’s driving me crazy.

“The Manson Trio” from “Glory” in “Pippin,” featuring Ben Vereen.

Love Me Tonight - Tom Jones

Yakety Sax

The Heavy - Short Change Hero

Specifically the chorus.

This ain’t no place for no hero.
This ain’t no place for no better man.
This ain’t no place for no hero,
To call home.

Right this minute: second or third movement of a Beethoven piano sonata in G major. Don’t remember which one it is by number, but I used to play it (very badly) a long time back.

Baba Yetu

Our college choir is practicing this fabulous song. Listen at your own risk, as it is one sticky son-of-a-gun. Impossible to be still while singing or listening to it. It’s the Lord’s Prayer in Swahili.

When it’s still running around in your head a week from now…you’re welcome.

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit-“Codeine”

Right at this moment? “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor.

Abba, “Chiquitita”.

Yesterday there were two separate announcements over the hospital overhead speakers for someone to move their white Lincoln out of the emergency department turnaround.

I mentioned to a younger colleague that “son, you’re gonna drive me to drinkin’, if you don’t move that freakin’ white Lincoln”. She didn’t get the reference, so I had to pull up a recording on YouTube.

Not a bad earworm as such things go.

Friday, by Joe Jackson

Why’d you tell me this…

I’m reading Carly Simon’s frank and detailed memoir and this line keeps occurring to me. Sung in her gorgeous voice, thankfully, not mine.

Chris Cornell, “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart

I recently put together a “Best of 2015” disc for my kid sister, so a lot of the songs on it are playing bumper cars in my head these days.

All Summer Long-Kid Rock

Not an actual song, but a mashup of sorts a friend made up whilst about ten beers in.

Sorry for double post… Anyway, it’s “Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves” but to the tune of the main riff of “Iron Man” by Black Sabbath…

“GYP-SIES, TRAMPS AND THIEVES…
that’swhatthey’dcallus in the town,
(They’dcallus)
GYP-SIES, TRAMPS AND THIEVES…”

(I apologize in advance for the horror I have just awakened in some’s mind’s ears…)
