Quick, what's your current earworm?

I was listening to “Payin’ the Cost to be the Boss” by B.B. King on the way to work this morning, so that’s what is stuck in my brain today.

“I’ve got a good mind to give up living and go shopping instead”

Blowing in a Secular Breeze – Go Kart Mozart

Thanks to XM radio, a song from the 60s. July 1969, to be exact. It was the #3 hit in the USA in July 1969, when astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin was eating the first meal ever consumed by man on the moon, the celebration of Holy Communion and Christ’s bread and wine, just before he followed Neil Armstrong out the door of the LEM to put the first steps on the moon.

The song was from the musical Hair, sung by Oliver (William Oliver Swofford): Good Morning, Starshine.
La da da da, da da da, da da da, da da da da da
da da da, da da da, da da dad a, da da da da da.

Good morning starshine
The earth says hello
You twinkle above us
We twinkle below

Good morning starshine
You lead us along
My love and me as we sing
Our early morning singing song

Gliddy gloop gloopy
Nibby nobby nooby
La la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba
Nooby abba dabba
Le le lo lo
dooby ooby walla
dooby abba dabba
Early morning singing song

Good mornin’ starshine
There’s love in your skies
reflecting the sunlight
in my lover’s eyes

Good morning starshine
so happy to be
My love and me as we sing
Our early morning singing song

Gliddy gloop gloopy
Nibby nobby nooby
La la la lo lo
Sabba sibby sabba
Nooby abba dabba
Le le lo lo
dooby ooby walla
dooby abba dabba
Early morning singing song

Can you hear me?

Singing a song
Loving a song

This one. And I haven’t even opened the thread yet.

Earwormed when I got that single that year (and “Let it Be”) for my fifth b-day. Yeah the halcyon singing and melodies in GMS can really embed themselves, and that’s a good thing, in this instance.

I’ve had many days, like today, where the superlative backing vocals in the following have an almost locomoting effect, making this reporter boogie through the day:

NB - nasty ass funky dirty muthafuckin funk!

The stupid Carvana “That didn’t suck” commercial. Damn auto tune.

“Stressed Out” by Twenty One Pilots.

I heard it this morning, and it’s been ringing in my ears all day long: Devoted to You, sung by James Taylor and Carly Simon.

Early in the week, Mrs. FtG had her docked iPod on while I was doing stuff and the unrandom-as-can-be shuffle algorithm played a bunch of Neil Young and Jackson Browne. (Apparently it decided to make a “Guys who dated Daryl Hannah.” playlist.)

Days passed.

Then starting yesterday I’ve had Tender Is the Night stuck in my head.

Before that, I had two songs: Over and Didn’t I? by Amanda Jones (the 80s-90s Atlanta group) as consecutive earworms. Possible candidates for Most Obscure 'worms. Can’t find a vid of either, but here’s something even better: their cover of Haunted.

I’ll wake up with this looping through my head.

What a man, what a man, what a man,
what a mighty good man
What a man, what a man, what a man,
what a mighty good man
Yes he is
A mighty mighty good man …

Linda Lydell - What a Man

From a TV ad - some money institution - where a bearded guy puts on blue eyeshadow, lipstick, a wig, and a fairy costume to surprize his little girl at her princess birthday party. The children all laugh and his little girl runs to his arms.

My old auntie complains that it promotes cross-dressing, etc.
Snort.

I did a quick search in this thread but it came up empty. Interesting that it has never been reported here.

Yes I like piña coladas
and getting caught in the rain
I’m not much into health food
I am into champagne

It’s all the fault of jtur88. And me too, I guess

“They alive, dammit!”

Gershwin, Concerto in F, beginning of the third movement, Phillipe Entremont piano, Ormandy/Philadelphia.

Sometimes earworms can be a good thing.

I affix the blame for this one on Bullitt who, in post 390, cited the Piña Colada song*
*(both were written by Rupert Holmes)
mmm

Purple friggin’ Rain. It won’t go away. Whenever it pauses, I see another thing about Prince, and there it is again.

The Lonely Goatherd - the yodeling song from The Sound of Music.

Why, I have no idea.

“I Fall to Pieces” by Patsy Cline

Because I woke up achy and old feeling.

Another rare one: I Had a Love by Blue Angel from 1980.

I wonder whatever happened to the singer in that group.

At least this one is in English and I know the words
