Quick, what's your current earworm?

Since this past Friday, it’s been “Ode to Billie Joe.”

Pharoahe Monch - “What It Is.”

Mr Pharmacist - The Fall

Words cannot express the feelings I suggest.
On a bit of a Fall and Fugazi streak at the moment.

Whoa, same here. I was explaining about the 3rd of June significance to a coworker who had never heard of the song, since it came out prior to her birth.

I found a video on YouTube. She asked the meaning of the story, so I found a webpage that tore the song apart, line by line, and discussed all the possible interpretations. We discussed the song way too long.

The Preamble to the Constitution from Schoolhouse Rock, from my youth and 1970s TV, video w/ words here: School house rock the preamble - YouTube.

We the People, in order to form a more perfect union,
establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility,
provide for a common defense, promote the general welfare, and
secure the blessings of liberty to our selves and our posterity
do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Memorized now for over 40 years.

We were tested on this in elementary school, and the teacher imposed a “no humming that tune” rule during the test.

A friend of mine mentioned kitties and ninjas together, so I had to flip out.

Not a recent earworm, but one’s that’s been with me for ages and I never knew where I picked it up. Thanks to Bill McGlaughlin’s “Exploring Music”, I know what it is.

I only “hear” the first little bit, so I didn’t realize it was a full on march, and the Glenn Miller jazz version is much more common, but it’s “American Patrol” by Meacham.

Someone at work was singing it yesterday and it’s been with me ever since:
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Called a police and a fireman
I’m too hot (hot damn)
Make a dragon wanna retire man…

mmm

They really did a great job with those songs. They just stuck in the head, always ready to be pulled out when needed.

My current earworm is persistent. Woke up humming it the last 3 days. Doesn’t stick during the entire day but keeps coming back. “Hey Heartbreak” by Jennifer Nettles.

“Plenty of Room” by Tom Chapin

A few days ago I was thinking of some light classical pieces by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and I listened to them. Some of the tunes are very catchy, such as “La Gallina”, “Le Banjo”, “Pasquinade”, and “Grande Tarantelle”, and they’re still running around in my head.

Something from Genesis…

Dog & Butterfly, from Heart. Its tune has been haunting my brain…

Morning again, the sun is probably shining.
Someone is probably finding his way.
Morning Again! Somebody else’s day.

Not only do I get the “earworms” as of a little while back, I occasionally hum out load. I wondered about this and did some basic web research. No need for alaram, one even said it is a sign of intelligence.

Well you can’t believe everything you find on the internet.
