Quick, what's your current earworm?

Life in a Bubble I Blew.

Now, it’s Cat Stevens’ Oh Very Young.

Yesterday I went looking for The Kings “This Beat Goes On/Switchin’ To Glide”, listened to it a couple times, now it’s stuck in there. I even woke up in the middle of the night with it running through my head.

It is sometimes bizarre how these earworms get planted. Sometimes they are planted directly, like Shoeless looking for a song, or if one hears a song, and sometimes they’re planted indirectly and we don’t know where the ‘plant’ came from - like Cat Stevens’ Oh Very Young for me now.

A Strauss waltz - not sure which one it is.

There’ve been times I woke up in the morning with an earworm in full swing - and it’s usually a song I hadn’t actually heard in years.

“Stressed Out” by twenty one pilots

30 Rock Theme

“There is nothing like a Dame” from South Pacific. I HATE that movie, no idea why it has got in my head this morning.

The Star Spangled Banner.

I blame USA swimming and women’s gymnastics.

Helm’s Deep (1978)

Catchy Mondegreen lyrics, for what was actually just scary sounding gibberish, according to the composer.

Isengard descend/All honor him, our Lord of Ruin…

The guitar riff from Michael Jackson’s Beat It. I can’t get it out of my head.
*… no, I can’t get it out of my head.
Now my old world is gone for dead
'cos I can’t get it out of my head.

I saw an article today.

A musician, someone really cool, had to take sometime off because of some shit that they have no control over.
Its neither fair nor nice… nor reading the article is there one damn thing anyone can do.

Hard lessons are things you should say thank you for. Thank you for the music!
(I always knew you two would make a good couple, once you worked it all out.) Feel Better…

“Heathens” - Twenty One Pilots. This is just after “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors held my brain hostage for almost 2 months.

Weezer - Surf Wax America

I use YouTube as a jukebox at work. I’ve been listening to these quite a bit lately:

“Where I Stood” by Missy Higgins

“Rey’s Theme” by John Williams (from Star Wars: The Force Awakens)

“Boat on the River” by Styx

“Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones

“Home by the Sea” by Genesis

All the animals in the zoo are jumping up and down for you
Asking you to be sure to plan a trip to the zoo as soon as you can
Storybooks that really talk you turn on with a key
[something something] all about the animals you see
Storybooks and zoo keys together guide you through
[something something something] awaits you at the zoo

Recently, I’ve had to play tracks of songs I know the words to, just to drive out that Everything Is Awesome jingle from a cable commercial. Grrrrr.

Marine Snow by The Musmus [a Japanese punk rock band].

I don’t understand any of it, but I like the song.

A local radio station (WXRT for those playing the home game) has a morning feature where they do a movie review and then play a song thematically tied to the movie somehow. The movie was “The Secret Life of Pets” and the followed by playing “Pets” by Porno for Pyros.

For the next couple weeks I had “We’ll make great pets… we’ll make great pets…” in my head. Finally, it went away.

A couple days ago, someone on Facebook posted the news story of an “earth like” planet being found and commented on our new upcoming alien overlords. So, of course, I post “We’ll make great pets” and started the cycle anew.

I don’t know
I don’t know
I don’t know where I’m a going to go when the volcano blows
