If you’re going to get “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” stuck in your head it might as well be this excellent version by Herbie Mann.
Does anyone else get fragments of songs, rather than whole songs, stuck in their heads? For me, if it’s a song that I don’t know all the lyrics to, I can sometimes banish it by deliberately learning all the lyrics and singing along to it a few times.
Worked for Still Alive.
Not bad, but it does go on a bit.
It’s really just the song, but in any case I would claim that I was earwormed by the Bedrocks version. Paul McCartney liked that one best as well, apparently.

I stumbled across this little gem on YouTube a few days ago and it’s been knocking around in my head ever since.
Currently it’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
I’m pretty happy 'bout it.
Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione
The ultimate earworm, with the 9-minute version.
This song’s been going through my head frequently over the past year, but for the past several days it’s been nonstop for some reason. Usually for me, any earworm gets bumped within hours by another one, so this is rather unusual.
And the stone walls of Harmony Hall bear witness
Anybody with a worried mind can never forgive the sight
Of wicked snakes inside a place you thought was dignified
I don’t wanna live like this, but I don’t wanna die
I Kissed a Girl, I got it from a Postmodern Jukebox cover. Yesterday I was wandering around YouTube listening to covers, and now it is stuck in my head.
There’s two different songs by that name, one performed by Jill Sobule, the other by Katy Perry. Any idea which one they covered? Some lyrics from each song’s refrain:
Katy Perry:
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
Jill Sobule:
And we laughed at the world
They can have their diamonds
And we’ll have our pearls
I kissed a girl
I kissed a girl
Hawaii 5-0 theme.
I watched an old Carrie Fisher one-woman-shoe last night (Wishful Drinking) - I had no idea she was married to Paul Simon. Anyway, now I’m stuck with The Boxer and Homeward Bound alternating. Not my favourite sort of thing, but I can live with it.

Youtube algorithm kicked up this
…and I’ve been humming it all day, and also, now I’ve dived into a rabbit hole of cutesy Japanese indie bands.
Chicago’s 25 or 6 to 4,
Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
6:40 am with the cat sitting on my head.
