For 56 years it’s been Arthur Brown’s “Fire.” My brain will clear out and I’ll get:
I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE!! AND i BRING YOU ---- FIRE!!! (nee-nee-neeeeee!!)
Tape slice. Rewind.
I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE!! AND i BRING YOU ---- FIRE!!! (nee-nee-neeeeee!!)
Tape slice. Rewind.
Repeat until insane.
I know how it got this way. My uncle bought the 8-track, and played it to try to scare me out of his room. I thought it was funny. A couple of years later he gave it to me and I played it to death, and so a lifelong earworm was born.
Due to another thread, it’s the word “socialism” sung to the tune of The Hallelujah Chorus. Which is odd. Typically, I hear it with the name “Sacramento.”
I always try a random 6,000 song playlist, but after hitting NEXT so many times, I’ll listen to them, and like today, the 1974 concert (King Biscuit Hour). There’s a remastered audio version on YouTube which is great. The band was on fire.
Jeff Dayton, a musician that was the bandleader for Glen Campbell for many years, was a guest on a podcast I listen to. He sang Wichita Lineman on the podcast. I’ve never been a Glen fan and never really liked that song but part of the chorus I love.
And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time
So that’s been playing in my head since I heard it early this morning. At least it’s something I like!
Rock Bottom by UFO. One of the most under rated guitar solos ever recorded. Michael Schenker could have been one of the real greats of the guitar if his ego didn’t get in the way.
Lately I’ve seen numerous videos of people listening/watching this song/video for the first time and being blown away. And I just saw one this morning.
Saw the movie “Wonka” when it came out. A few days ago while on a long drive
this song came into my head and wouldn’t leave. To pass the time I came up
with some new lyrics:
Oompa, Loompa, doompa-dee-do I’ve got a brand new puzzle for you Oompa, Loompa, doompa-dee-dee If you are wise, you’ll listen to me
What do you do with that song in your head? Always playing 'til you wish you were dead And how can you get it out of your brain? Before you will become quite insane
I don’t think you’re wanting that
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da Having an earworm is not that bad Embrace it with happiness too Like the Oompa, Loompa, doompa-dee-do!
