Quick, what's your current earworm?

“Refugee” - Tom Petty. A performance I hadn’t heard before was playing at the hardware store this morning.

I’ve been living with It’s My Party by Lesley Gore for the past week. I don’t know why…I didn’t hear it played anywhere. Someone please shoot me.

You don’t own me was my LG replay. Loved every minute of it :wink:

For quite a few days it was Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ - Who Loves You and then one morning I woke up with Girls Just Wanna to Have Fun in my head. I have no idea why. But by typing this, I’m back to Who Loves You!

Manic Monday.

“Fat Sam’s Grand Slam Speak Easy” from Bugsy Malone. My sister watched it in the other room day before yesterday, and I can’t get that song out of my head. It’s not even my favorite song in the movie! Which is either “Bad Guys” or “So You Wanna Be a Boxer.”

Telephone Rock.

The “Log” commercial from Ren and Stempy and the Mr. Softee jingle.

“The Colorectal Surgeon Song”, by Bowser & Blue

I just watched the Wolverine & Deadpool trailer (for the zillionth time), so “Like A Prayer” by Madonna.

Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp.

Thanks for posting the Erroll Garner link. The YouTube didn’t play for me, but Spotify and Tidal have plenty to listen to. Good stuff.

Here’s one of my recent earworms:

AC/DC’s “Back in Black”, which was part of a television commercial. I have no idea for which product.

Must every pop/rock hit show up in a TV ad?

mmm

How often are you allowed to post in this thread? There’s something different spinning around in my head every single time the thread title pops up for me, so I could post every 5 minutes for the rest of my life, like probably most of us could. At the moment:

Sheena is a punk rocker!

Haiduk - Cyclone

I have a foster dog named Bobby, so it’s bee perpetually the opening number to the musical Company since I brought him home on Wednesday.

Bobby, Bobby, Bobby baby, Bobby bubi, Robby, Robert darling…

Daniel by Elton John, which is not unpleasant as far as earworms go.

Funnily enough, I’ve heard the song a zillion times without ever knowing Spain was mentioned, much less three times. Also, when Elton sings the line Daniel, you’re a star in the face of the sky it sure sounds like ‘faith’ and not ‘face’

So pondering the song, I made the mistake of Googling the meaning behind it. Bernie Taupin had this to say:

“The story was about a guy that went back to a small town in Texas, returning from the Vietnam War. They’d lauded him when he came home and treated him like a hero. But he just wanted to go home, go back to the farm, and try to get back to the life that he’d led before. I wanted to write something that was sympathetic to the people that came home.”

Well, that clears nothing up. How does Spain fit in with that scenario?

A piece on the Late Show was about a process server not being able to find Rudy Guilliani. Colbert said that since the names had the same number of syllables, he was legally bound to parody “Where In The World is…Carman Sandiego?”, and the band did a great job.

My wife pointed out an hour later that I was still humming it…
