The Beach Boys’ Sloop John B., because of this Cafe Society thread:
The theme song from The Banana Splits TV show. Thanks to my husband. Whom I may divorce over this.
That’s better than the HR Puff-n-Stuff jingle…
(maybe)
I’ve really got to quit listening to my shuffle during my morning commute. Now I’m stuck with the lines “In Albuquerque! Albuquerque” from the world’s strangest stream-of-consciousness song “Albuquerque” from Weird Al. The rest of the song didn’t burrow its way in, but that dang New Mexican city…
The lullaby “All through the Night.” My youngest child is 8, and it must be about 5 years since we’ve played that song in our house, but it’s been in my head for the last month or two. Hoping that listening to it on YouTube will get rid of it…
My condolences, ftg, and I hope the song is gone now.
I hate that f-ing song. It makes me want to jump into a well. Ugh.
John Oliver played snippets of some obscure death metal (maybe?) group on his show. Apparently they’re the first Western group invited to play before Kim Jung Un. I keep flashing on they’re bizarre mixture of English, German, and ?? sung while skeletons frog-marched in the streets. Oliver characterized the lead singer’s voice as Freddie Mercury choking up a frog. Please make it stop.
Janelle Monae’s “Yoga”.
Foster the People, “Best Friend”
They’re kind of like psychedelic band MGMT meets Kool and the Gang.
Prepare yourself: If you ever call La Quinta hotels and get put on hold, the hold music is VERY similar to the Banana Splits theme song. I advise caution.
I beg your pardon, I never promised you a rose garden…
R.I.P., Lynn Anderson
Because my sons love My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and have three different albums that we hear at bedtime (over and over): Apples to the Core
“We’re Apples forever, Apples together! We’re family but so much moooooore…”
Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain, because of the Camry commercial. Except that in the commercial it isn’t Carly Simon.
It began only a few minutes ago when I read a friend’s status update, which was something like, “What do you say to your fear?”
“Hello darkness, my old friend…” sprang irresistibly to mind.
From experience, I’ve got about three days of it ahead of me.
L is for the Way You Look at Me is my current earworm. It popped into my head about five days ago and I have no idea why. I’m sure I haven’t heard it in years. My brain is weird like that.
Various themes from Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony. I’m not quite sure what set me off.
“Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone,” in a minor key. Niles played it that way once on “Frasier.”
A medley of songs from “Jesus Christ, Superstar,” including “What’s the Buzz, Tell Me What’s Happening,” “Everything’s Alright,” and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him.”
"Mellow Yellow’ by Donovan, due to Minions.
