I’ve heard this song a thousand times and have still yet to fathom the meaning of what ‘Radar Love’ is. I’ve though it might be phone/CB sex but that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with radar. Then I though maybe its just mental sex, but that doesn’t have anything to do with radar or another person. Any help?
IIRC, Radar Love is by a Danish band, Golden Earring. Could be that they didn’t really know what it meant either, but thought it sounded cool.
Why’s it have to be about sex at all? I’ve always taken it be a mental connection between two people.
I wish I could find the cite but I understand that when the song was written in 73 none in the band owned a car, they all had bicycles. And yes Sublight they are Dutch. They are also still around and play in Holland all the time, I saw them in June and am going back in November to see them again. If you ever get a chance they are a killer live band.
I think the idea is that the singer and his girl have some kind of psychic connection, that he can tell when she needs him or whe she’s thinking about him even when they’re far apart.
To someone who grew up speaking English, that’s still a clunky phrase… but for Dutchmen to whom English is a second language, it may have sounded really cool.

Not Danish. I hate it when people confuse Dutch and Danish. It’s one of my absolute pet peeves. We don’t even speak the same language that country-named-after-a-pastry does. Have you ever heard Danish? Dutch sounds practically lilting and beautiful compared to that.
And no, Copenhagen is not the capital of Amsterdam!

Danish, in my experience are very quiet. Some cookies, like sugar wafers, can be pretty loud; but, the consistency of Danish, particularly with gooey icing and a soft filling mitigates against pastry-related noise pollution.

The video for Twilight Zone was about cloak n’ dagger spies and trenchcoated sneaky people exchanging documents, so I’m guessing the song is about the ruthless world of cold war spies.
Bah! You got fooled by a trick question. Obviously “Amsterdam” and “Copenhagen” are completely fictional made-up names. Can you imagine anyone really living in a city with such an outrageous name? I didn’t think so …
