I say no, and I’m sick and tired of perfectly good chocolate, hot cocoa, cakes, and tortes being ruined by the addition of raspberries. I don’t mine raspberries by themselves. But they do not go with chocolate.
But have you ever had chocolate ice cream with swirls of raspberry sherbert running through it? Can’t remember what company makes it, but it’s dreeeeemy.
Yummy!
Chocolate and cherries too!
Actually, chocolate and just about anything are pretty good.
In my experience, chocolate is yummy with any kind of fruit, except maybe tomatoes and avocados. I like it with rasberry.
Fresh raspberries dipped in melted dark chocolate and allowed to dry. Yum!! Works with strawberries, too. (And carrot, I guess, if you like.)
Raspberries and chocolate (either regular or white) make the baby Jesus dance for joy. Although I think processed berries (like in a coulis to complement a chocolate dessert) go better than fresh.
Abso-tootly…
A little Raspberry liqueur brushed on a chocolate cake before icing is pretty damn hard to beat.
Raspberry and chocolate is my favorite combination. I can’t get enough of it.
Cheesecake Factory’s Dark Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake is heavenly.
Pepperidge Farm just came out with Raspberry Chocolate Milanos. I don’t let the kids near them.
Hershey’s makes raspberry chocolate chips and I use them when I make fudge.
Those chocolate oranges you smack on the table to break open now come in dark and milk chocolate with raspberry.
I make a killer chocolate rum raspberry cake.
Oh, yeah. Good stuff.
Sheri
I’m in the NO category.
I also feel that way about strawberries and cherries.
Don’t even get me started on the abomination that is chocolate and orange…
Chocolate with about anything else is divine. But I can do without the fruit. (ooh, except maybe bananas)
“Pepperidge Farm just came out with Raspberry Chocolate Milanos. I don’t let the kids near them.”
-DAMN Pepperidge Farm! Damn them to HELL! They obviously don’t “remembah” that I am trying to squeeze back into last year’s size 8s . . .
Normally I agree with Cranky but not on this one; raspberries and chocolate do go together; just not in a chicken.
Yes yes yes yes Oh my God yes.
Flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce. Yes.
There is no better way to end a meal than with something chocolate accompanied by a little Chambord.
For my money, chocolate and raspberry go together better than any other combination of foods I can think of.
NO WAY!!! This, to me, has always been one of the least understandable concoctions known to man.
I guess the only chocolate-and-fruit combo I like is chocolate-and-cherry.
Raspberry and a sweet chocolate, not the bitter stuff.
And the fewer the seeds, the better.
But oh yum, fruit and chocolate. Man, I’m gonna miss chocolate.
It took me a long time to cultivate a taste for this particular combination. Mostly, I like my chocolate to taste chocolatey, not fruity or tangy or anything else. But, as Porcupine mentioned, flourless chocolate cake with just a wee drizzle of raspberry sauce is nice every once in a while.
Hell yes! There’s a great bakery around here, and every year for the past 4 or 5 on my birthday I’ve gotten their chocolate-raspberry mouse cake. Divine! (or Eartlhy, but still damned good, depending on your particular religious beliefs regarding chocolate and raspberries).
No, thanks. I’m also not partial to chocolate and cream cheese. So, raspberry chocolate cheesecake is right out.
Cranky, I’ve always held you in the highest respect, but here I’m pretty sure you’re outa your flurkin’ mind. Godiva raspberry/chocolate truffle ice cream… ::drool::
Also, if either porcupine or DarkWriter hear a knock at the door, it’s me. I’ll be begging for coffee and desserts.
I personally believe that raspberries are the tool of the devil, and should not be used in any of my food, ever. On the other hand, there’s a raspberry beer (Abita Purple Haze) that’s very good, so I’ll allow that one exception. But keep them away from my chocolate.
