Awhile back, I had an idea for a Montana Dopefest, which seemed to generate a lot of interest (hell, even I was surprised). Granted, at the time it was a year or so off, but I’ve learned that planning ahead is key, even if it does nothing more than to build up the excitement for the whole thing.
I originally thought it’d be cool to have a campsite with bonfire, smores, BYOB, etc. at or really close to Glacier Nat’l Park. Here’s the kicker: When I return back to the States (date TBD), I’ll have a good two weeks off of ‘comp time’–plenty of time to go DopeFestin’. Now that I’m within six months of getting back home, I figure I could float the bobber again to see if anyone takes the bait.
I “live” in Great Falls, MT, and it wouldn’t be much for me to start taking suggestions for a location of Camp Cecil. I can work on it from here, and as I get closer to a return date, we can start planning specifics.
Any thoughts? Takers?

Like I said, planning early is key. [sub]Gotta make sure we stock up on enough beer.[/sub]
How much beer are you talking about? If you promised to bring enough of the right kind, I might consider it.
As long as it’s around the Glacier area that is… I already put in my time in Great Falls, but it’d be fun to hear how it’s changed.
You’ve only been there a couple years or so haven’t you? I recall when you were first making the move and thinkin’, “poor bastard”, but then I realized you were coming from Minot.
I was in Minot, ND, but moved back in July '03. I’ve “lived” in Great Falls, MT from then to now. The quotations are there since my out-of-town business trips seem to be the norm, rather than being at “home”.

There’s a few places around Glacier, and I can always call up and reserve a location (or we can just meet at a spot easy for anyone to get to). As far as beer, my truck can haul 13,465 lbs. (with a trailer, of course), so deducting 5596 lbs. for my truck (from a weight ticket) and another say 200lbs of cardboard, aluminum, and taps, that roughly equates to . . . 7,669 lbs/122,704oz/approx 10,225 beers.
And that’s just what I’ll be bringing.

All 7,669 lbs to be evenly distributed amongst the brand names.
Well, I’m from Pennsylvania, but I’ve always wanted to see Montana (hey, don’t laugh at me… Dopers are supposed to be strange)
Maybe, just maybe, if the financial stars align, I might be able to make it a road trip
Speaking of road trip, I haven’t posted this officially yet since we’re still waiting on vacation approvals, but Jim and I are driving from Calgary to Las Vegas in the first half of May this year. If you have a Dopefest in Montana then, we might actually make it!
IF (big if) we drive out to go visit my parents, we leave from Baltimore and go through Montana (Mom lives three hours north of Tripler). There could be a carpool.
I’m not much of a social butterfly, but I’ve kind of always wanted to give at least one Dopefest type activity a shot.
I’m in Eastern Washington and could make the trip. I’ve not yet been to Glacier Nat’l Park, and wouldn’t mind combining the two “dreams”, but I like Montana in general (except Butte) and would be open to just about anywhere.
