Reaching Climax: More Than Just a Feeling MMP

My morning coffee barely survived two aerial assaults by cats. Someday I will build a table for my coffee (not a coffee table, they are too low. Who wants to keep bending over for their coffee? That’s too much work.) It will not wobble and it will have an enclosure for the coffee cup to protect it from cats.

Toadsuck, Arkansas

You beat me to Frognot Dolores. Which was also a band name for a while.

We were rearranging the furniture in the dining room last week to accomodate a new set of shelves, when the wife decided that, since we had to move the buffet anyway, the end wall *really *needed to be painted blue. And it had to be finished before our daughter’s birthday party on Saturday. Looks nice, although I was originally worried it would be too dark, based on the colour splotch she brought home. She did most of the work, though (I do the heavy lifting, cementing, plastering, plumbing, carpentering, and electricaling, and she does the painting and decorating).

My first day of vacation. Or have I mentioned that already?

Busy day, did have a meeting campus with the President and am trying to getting my son ready for his trip to Costa Rica/camp. Busy! Vacation! All good!

I think Climax, KY sounds like KY Jelly’s latest arousal enhancer.

(snerk) Okay, you owe me a new keyboard.

yeah, I don’t see Bluehairia on that list! :stuck_out_tongue:

then of course, there are all the Native American named towns on Lawn Guylindt - like Quogue (the sound a duck billed platypus makes) or Quiogue which is several towns over from the former
oh and the ones that keep going: Ronkon(konkonkonkon)koma

Technically, it’s a creek, not just any body of water. Says the Upstater. Even if I live really far away now, I still know my Dutch place names.

Yup- you are right! And I knew that once upon a time (says the Westerner New Yorker. We non-NYCers have to stick together!)

I’m not from NYC!

We also have a town named Climax here in Washington.

Additionally, there’s Willy Dick Crossing, Ustalady, Velvet, Mock City, Cozy Nook, Dot, Hoh, and the list goes on. We also have the many Native American names here too. In fact the town I live in is named for a Native American tribe here.

Sigh back to work. It’s really Monday. It effing sucks…not going into it.

I’ve got nothing to add to the names list, so here’s the first hijack.

My dad has a job now. He’s doing documentation and stuff for my uncle. He’s not completely happy about it - he was quite satisfied being unemployed. I, on the other hand, haven’t found a job, and that’s basically what I’m doing this week. I got discouraged last week, but with the weekend over, it’s time to plunge ahead!

I also need to get back on track at taijitsu, I slacked off on my goal of going five times a week.

Got me for a second there. My uncles had a good school friend whose last name was Lobo, so I knew it had to exist in the Spanish-speaking world…

Hee, Lots of interesting names listed already. I can’t think of any truly embarrassing Ohio place names offhand, but there are some interesting pronunciations. My favorites are Bellfontaine and Berlin*.

Glad your Dad has something, STG; also, hope you find something soon!

Hi Bookkeeper! I don’t suppose your wife would like to visit Ohio and paint a few rooms at my house?

Bellefontaine (behl FOWN tuhn)
Berlin (BUR lynn)
From here.

More cool pictures from space. Just started following this astronaut on Twitter; he’s an amazing photographer. Pyramids at Giza. Cyprus in the middle of the Mediterranean.

Feeling slightly pissy about another online venue. It’s a local news blog and a few of us point out grammar errors in the copy and comments (often with a little gentle tweaking). Well, apparently we’ve pissed off some people who are all up in arms about a few common grammar comments (misuse of apostrophes, advise vs advice) with a lot of vitriol. I replied. I may not have won friends…

I found these on a Funny Town Names site and also from a map of my county:

Accident, MD
Avenue, MD
Boring, MD
California, MD
Crappo, MD
Hollywood, MD
Loveville, MD
Point of Rocks, MD
Scaggsville, MD
Scotland, MD
Sunshine, MD

Hollywood and California are adjacent towns in my county. Califonia is farther south and east. Loveville is about 4 miles from where I live. There are probably some more interesting towns in the state, but I’m too tired to look,

Today was a long day. After work, I went over to daughter’s school to help her bring some things home from her classroom. Turns out she’s getting a bigger room next year, so we moved a bunch of her stuff to the new room. We also had to empty her salt water aquarium and her turtle tank, so that was messy fun. And just after I got there, she had her evaluation talk with her principal. ALL EXCELLENTS!!! My baby rocks as a teacher!! Plus next year, she’ll go back to using her maiden name - that should confuse her students!

I spent most of my day at work sorting and shredding papers. And it turns out the guy who sits next to me is skinny enough to wear the pants I made, so he did. They were STUNNING!!! :open_mouth:

That’s all I’ve got for now. Happy freekin’ Monday.

Miss FairyChat! Miss FairyChat! Can I have a hall pass?
