Reaching Climax: More Than Just a Feeling MMP

We just had an earthquake! Our whole office tower was shaking, and my wife called from the other side of the city to say that stuff was shaking off the shelves! There doesn’t appear to be any damage, but they’re starting to evacuate the upper floors of our building. Don’t know if this is a precaution or whether the quake set off a fire alarm or something.

OMG! I hope eveyone is ok, Bookkeeper! (I’m not giving you a nickname, I love how yu have three sets of double letters in your name!)

My brain is fried. I had Messican food to medicate it. Now I need a nap.

News reports say 5.7 with the epicentre near Buckingham, Quebec. Gotta go - they’re evacuating the building.

Godspeed and stay safe, Bookkiee.

Folks in Buffalo, my hometown, felt it. Hope you’re safe, Ookkee!

Dang Books! Hope everybody’s safe.

I see Soapy came up with Ookkee. I kinda like it!

picu like others have explainated, purtification is the act of glammin’ up before steppin’ out amongst one’s adorin’ public. Happy unbirthday! I promise to sing loud on the real one.

Jules believe in the power of the papercut curse!

I have decided to make fries to go with the bbq sammiches and coleslaw cause I want me some fries.

Ok - I suppose I can go along with ookkee, since it still has the three sets of double letters.
I am looking forward to dinner tonight. I’m making poke chops, rice & gravy, sauteed summer squash and black eyed peas. Downhome Cooking with Rebo! I need me a TV show.

And that’s why I chose it!

I was aiming for Beans or Beanie, but had not yet the chance to bring it up.

Short for Bean Counter.

ETA: Beenee?

Just got a note from my brother about the quake. They felt it in my home town several hundred miles from Ottawa.

So do I. And besides, you should
<singing>
Always look on the bright side of life

Stay safe and let us know once everything settles. Literally.

Knees are still achin’ today. Jules, I can move for free at the gym at work on the stationary bikes. I’m not going to pay $10 an hour to march in place while some skinny-butt dance teacher shakes her skinny butt in front of me! :stuck_out_tongue:

The shredder truck got filled up in less than 3 hours, so they’re having to bring another back tomorrow. Good to see a lot of folks are getting rid of a lot of paper. And the office where I’ll be moving is pretty much vacated, so I was able to start moving some things down there. The computers won’t go till next Thurs, so I’ll keep what I need to keep working, but some decor and reference materials are already down awaiting me. Plus I had a chance to clean the cube before I put any crap in there.

I also had to put in a trouble report. My cube is missing a desk drawer, the slide out keyboard holder, the under-desk shelf, and the semi-circular table top at the end of the cube. We shall see how quickly they take care of that. I really, really need the drawer and the keyboard holder. I could live without the other two, alto I’d be unhappy… :frowning:

Poke tenderloin is rotissing. I was going to do a chicken but I kinda lost track of how long it was in the fridge - hermetically sealed, but still, it smelled funky when I opened the package, so into the trash it went. The poke was frozen but between thawing it in a big bowl of water and setting it farther away from the heat for a longer cooking time, I think it should get done just fine. If not, I’ll nuke it! Sides will be broccoli and noodlies, and teensy 'maters from my plants.

I can haz Firday, pleez?

Finally home - the buses were packed and traffic pretty bad downtown, as a number of major office buildings were closed - our building was shut down as a safety precaution until they make sure there’s no damage and the fire alarms and other critical safety systems are working.

The news reports have the magnitude downgraded to 5.0 now. Not much damage and only a few minor injuries reported - news stories here and here.

This was not my first earthquake, as this is the most active area in Canada, with a quake an average of every 5 days, but most are detectable only by instruments, and the ones I’ve felt before were mild enough that we weren’t quite certain at first if it was a quake or just a heavy truck going by. This was the strongest I’ve ever felt. It’s quite unsettling to feel a massive concrete building shaking like jelly.

MMMMMMMMM… bbq sammiches, fries and coleslaw. The only thing better would be what Rebo’s cookin’.

Since we did not deheathenate on Sunday, we are goin’ to the Evening Prayer service at 6:30 tonight. I go from time to time by myself but I convinced OYKW he needed to go due to the fact that the Eucharist will be celebrated and could he stand the fact that I’m all saintly and deheathenated while he is still all heathenated. So we shall both go forth for deheathenization this evenin’.

Ookkee glad your home safe!

stoopit poke - it was raw inside, so I had to nuke it. But it was yum, so there’s that.

Daughter had gone to friends’ house to watch some dancing show on TV, **FCD **is watching baseball on TV, and here I am! Maybe I’ll get motivated and do some laundry.

HA HA - I made a joke!

HA HA - I actually laughed at your joke, FCM, as it pretty much reflects my outlook on this evening. Really need to do something, though. Might go out and plant a few more items and possibly trim stuff along the driveway. Of course, the radio says it’s 91 out, so I might wait a while.

I’ll wait till tomorrow to wish you a happy birthday,** picu**. My calendar says it’s Muppet’s birthday as well tomorrow.

Tired. Had more to say, but…tired.

Will post more when I get a second wind…

I can certainly understand that. While the gym membership is not a requirement of mine, it is nice to have: and Zumba is included! My work doesn’t have a stationary bike. We have two treadmills and a Bowflex. But we have a nice, traffic-free road to walk on. It’s just too bleeding HOT!

I came up with Bookkiee. Do I at least get partial credit? Especially since it’s hard to type from this PAPERCUT on my FINGER???

My sweet Bubba boy is sick and I’m worried about him. But unfortunately I’ve got lots of work to do for tomorrow so he’s being monitored by my grandparents right now. He’s vomited a couple of times and had to do his business outside a bit more often. I hope he’s better soon. :frowning:

You can be second author, but I retain first author presentation privileges.

How’s the owie?
