Hey. That was a real nice thread. I don’t care if the OP was a trolling griefing sock of a beach, the thread itself was not trollish at all and the debate was going on nicely.
after further consideration, let me change my review of our “sister” board. On my first pass over there, I caught mostly juvenile snark at the posters and threads over here. Again, nothing of real substance, but a funny background commentary MST3K style.
If it is going beyond that, and materializing into meatspace aggressions, that is just not funny.
At any rate. I see this thread going in all different wrong ways. They are probably having a field day of this over there. I can also see a pissoffization of our modding staff coming. This was probably a pandora’s box best left unopened. It is done though. We will see how this plays out. Here is hoping for just a hiccup.

While some discussion is certainly allowable – and I guess even necessary to the situation for informational purposes – I need to point out that we routinely close threads that threaten to put one message board community in conflict with us – we don’t play “Let’s you and him fight” if we can keep from it.
So no attacks, please. If you like 'em, great; if you dislike 'em, fine. Don’t bring their arguments here and please don’t go on a mission over there.

But seriously, I have nothing much to add here. I don’t post over yonder although I do read there. I find it hilarious myself. I wish I was mentioned more, actually. They always used to but no so much anymore. I think of myself as a reverse troll for that place. The more attention I get there, the more I laugh.
I am also surprised this topic has been allowed to stay open AND visible what with some things that have been posted in here (the name a few times of said place and even entries). For that I say cheers to the mods and admins or, if you will, TPTB. Censor something too much and it becomes nothing but what everyone wants to talk about. I feel this thread was long overdue and I’m glad to see people get it out of their systems.
That being said, I wouldn’t take it too personally. What, are you offended honestly so sad that someone anon on a website thinks you suck? Or are fat? They say that those who insult others often do so just because they have their own main insecurities, so I find it hard to be bothered. I actually read it with amusement and I have to admit I’ve laughed out loud a couple times at actual, sincere humor there. They’re not always snarky…often they’re snarkier to each other than the people they’re pitting. It all reeks of extreme lameness, yeah…so I always take everything with a huge grain of salt. It’s like that movie where they throw all the criminals into one fenced in park and just have them go at it and create their own society. But it doesn’t do much harm to us on this side of the fence other than hurt words or possibly grudges…and only the latter if you let it get to you. I say don’t. I’m amused by them…even though I’ve been the brunt of many of their snarks in the past…and in the end, all they have is their power of words. I don’t think it’s much.
If you are truly offended by what people you’ll never know or meet think of you over an anonymous message board, it might be time to either grow thicker skin or go outside for a bit.
That all being said, I don’t post there and never will. I think it’s a bunch of people who, like a lot in here have said, don’t really have any spines. But at least they don’t hide it. And something Volitare said comes to mind…I may not like what you say, but I will fight to the death your right to say it.

He sent that information to someone he thought was viciously trolling him-- someone he thought to be completely off his rocker and volitile— daring that person to post it. What did he think was going to happen?
Further, it’s my understanding that the information Sampiro voluntarily gave out was almost immediately deleted over there. Not for one second would I defend the posting of that personal information in any regard- particularly surrounding a loved one’s death-- but for goodness’ sake, how can anyone blame anyone but Sampiro for what happened? (No offense, Sampiro- I really don’t have anything against you either, but looking at all the facts I can’t help but think you are really the only one to blame for that information being posted. No one stole your personal information and posted it, you voluntarily gave it out and even went so far as to encourage its posting. You may have done it in an emotional state, but that doesn’t change what happened).
No, I didn’t miss it…but then again I’m speaking as someone who wouldn’t ever trust anyone I didn’t know (especially online) with anything I’d deem as too personal. I always believe it’s best to tread with extreme caution when dealing with ANYone on the internet, so giving up info like that, especially to someone who is apparently harassing you in the first place, may not have been such a great idea.
In any case, he seems to realize this now and know it was foolish. So more power to him for learning his lesson?

For the information I supplied, I agree. For combining it with my mother’s obituary and suggesting that it be used to prank call my family at an emotional time, I would think common decency would prevent this being done. But, while you’ve never struck me as decent I most certainly think of you as common, so I’ll defer to your judgment.
Now you’re just being pissy. Expecting anything even remotely resembling “common decency” from the members of TPTSNBN, especially the one you were dealing with, was foolish in the extreme. Suck it up and build a bridge with it.
Your scathing remarks have stung me to my core, good sir. Wait. My entire point is that getting upset over what random, anonymous (and you’re still-effectively- anonymous, even here) people on the internet say about you is not only silly and illogical, but in most cases down right pathetic.
Further though, in the specific case of what we’re talking about, you know darn well that post was almost instantly removed. You just happened to be there to get a screen shot, funny how that worked out, right? Total coincidence, I’m sure. Regardless, I’ve made it clear that I don’t support posting that kind of information and I don’t take part in discussions here, there, or anywhere to that effect. There is, ultimately, no justification for anyone suggesting to personally harass a member ever, particularly in the situation you found yourself in. Clearly, I agree that common decency should stop that from happening- and it did. Even at the most loathsome of places, that information was taken down.
In the end, it was your idiocy that caused that information to be posted and for you to even minimally spin that incident in your favor is incredible. Next time you want to keep your personal information private, try to not send it to someone you think is nuts and then egg them on until they publicly post it.
