Did it set a record for most hideous venue?
I love that building. Are you serious? Or perhaps referring to the city?
What an incredible, tense, amazing experience. I never thought I’d actually see the day. Just incredible
This. That stadium is freaking gorgeous. It’s no Lambeau (or even pre-spaceship Soldier), but it’s everything you want in a modern stadium. On top of that, the roof won’t cave in if it snows a lot.
I do have something of an aversion to indoor stadiums. I went to a game in one once, and though my team did win, the venue felt a little off. The Vikings stadium, though, to me it looks like the architect ignored the warnings about the brown acid.
My problem with commercials like that is they don’t tell you how much or what percentage of the sale the charitable contribution is. It could be just a penny per car sold.
“We’re helping to fight cancer one sale at a time!”
“Here’s 20 bucks for February!”
Did P!nk do well with the anthem? I was disappointed when Christina A. messed it up (she clearly has the pipes to do it justice).
Brian
She did IMHO, which is pretty amazing considering that she’s suffering from the flu. The only thing I noticed was that she was visibly working to hit her notes whereas she’s usually effortless (at least that’s how it looks).
I was impressed that they lit up the area around the stadium in the shape of Prince’s symbol, in purple, during the halftime show. I thought that was pretty cool.
I despised the Hyundai commercial. People are trying to get on flights and get pulled out of security, are freaking out, and then are just told how great Hyundai is. I thought they were giving them free cars or something, but nope. If I was one of those people I’d outwardly act all sympathetic to the people who were sick or whatever but inwardly pissed at Hyundai for screwing up my travel just to brag to me.
Flights? Somehow I thought they were entering into the stadium for the football game.
Yeah, they were entering the stadium, not going for flights.
I think there were some good commercials, but most were just meh.
I misinterpreted the commercial then.
But it still seemed dumb. I mean, good for Hyundai to help people but yanking people into a room to brag at them?
It wasn’t a great commercial, but I don’t think the intent was to brag at them, but to show them their purchase helped people and to get to meet some people they (unbeknownst to them) helped.
Now I really liked the first half commercial with the robots laughing at their creator for using Verizon.
+1
I’m walking right beside you!
Yes, I thought everyone on the team got rings, even if a player was third string. Am I wrong? Now I’m very curious. I think they do. They train, workout, even if they don’t get playing time they are still a part of the team.

It’s Minnesota. I can see the value of a domed stadium.
-
As weird as it looks, at least it’s different, and there’s something to be said for that. It looks nice on the inside, and that’s where the fans are most of the time.

The real shame is they looted the taxpayer for half a billion dollars to build it.
The NFL gives the winning team 150 rings to give out, and the team decides who gets them. The teams can buy more & give them out if they choose as well. Absolutely everyone on the active roster & IR will get a ring. Practice squad often get rings as well.* There’s no way on Earth that Wentz, who led them to 11 victories, won’t get a ring.
- There was an episode of Pawn Stars a few years ago where someone was trying to sell a Patriots Super Bowl ring. When the expert came in to verify/price it, he said the player selling it (they didn’t reveal his name) was a member of the practice squad, which dropped the price some.

well it’s the end of the season so a final chance to point out: there is NO SUCH THING AS OFFSIDES! It’s OFFSIDE, since you can only be off one side at a time. My final nit has been picked for the year…
Thanks, and I remember that Pawn Stars episode.
