At the moment there are 2 more…or less confirmed things we are getting from Rockstar:
- Expanded and enhanced version of GTA V
- Trilogy of LC, VC and SA released on UE (I think still only a rumour, but a strong one)
For the second one we kinda got an official confirmation that we are going to get “a surprise” for the 20.th anniversary of Gta III and that wasn’t related to the Expanded&Enhanced. Why do I think we won’t get either of those two and we’ll get both at the same time?
Expanded and enhanced was announced over a year ago using a mix of the old PS3 trailers, not even PS4 gen ones, which was described in detail by the youtuber TheProfessional, there’s also another trailer released by the Playstation youtube account which features Gta V online stuff as well, but that’s not PS5 footage either.
As far as I know, the only other thing we got other than old trailers was this text by Rockstar that accompanied the announcement: “The new generation versions of GTAV will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.”
Doesn’t it seem strange that the tiniest DLC’s get marketing-hype way before they are launched, but for over a year and a few months before it’s release, we didn’t get a single piece of content, teaser, screenshot or anything else for E&E? Does it seem logical that Rockstar would not only reuse old footage for trailers, but even reuse old PS3 era footage? Doesn’t that sound more like a giant troll?
Plus enhanced, sure, but where does the word “expanded” fit in into all this?
Then there is the official announcement for a surprise for Gta III’s 20th anniversary and there’s all these rumours for a trilogy of LC, VC and SA remasters.
For me this all points to the possibility that, just like how New Austin was reused in the new game and “expanded” with new regions, Los Santos might also get…expanded with new regions in the form of LC and VC. Adding a new city doesn’t mean the game is automatically going to take up double space and plus huge game sizes are a normal thing these days, so even if it was +150gb it wouldn’t be unreasonably large.
This seems much more logical than re-re-releasing the game for the third time using a PS3 trailer for marketing and then not showing absolutely any content for over a year, whilst also releasing 3 different remasters of older games that work on the Unreal engine for some reason.
