reccommend an Einsturzende Neubauten album

A friend of mine suggested i check these guys out. I was wondering if anyone out there could suggest a good starting point. I realize that industrial isnt exactly the most accessible music, however what would be considered their best work?

Thanks!

Fagjunk Theology: Not just for sodomite propagandists anymore.

I like “Haus der Luge”, their 1989 album (although I’m less familar with a lot of their other stuff, especially newer).

Strategies Against Architecture Volume II is my personal favorite. It’s a double CD of various rare and live versions of their work in the 80’s. For a single album, I’d say either Five on the Open Ended Richter Scale or House of Lies.

These guys are a different kind of “industrial.” Not a pounding crunch like today’s industrial–which I love by the way–more avant-y. It’s “industrial” because they make a lot of their sounds by banging on pieces of metal and stuff, but they don’t produce a Zombie-like pulse–which I love by the way.

Einsturzende and Foetus are the parents of modern industrial, and most of it takes after Foetus more than EN. Reznor, kind of the godfather, got most of his likes from Thirlwell/Foetus; he kind of bypassed EN.

Anyway, the most accessible is probably Tabula Rasa, though hardliners might disagree: it’s later and a bit more polished than their earlier work.

oof!
