OK, here’s a few ideas, given your techno/industrial/electronica tastes:[ul][li]Skinny Puppy, the grand-daddies of the industrial scene[/li][li]Jim Thirlwell aka FOETUS. Nail and Hole are hard driving industrial albums with absurdist posturing and a huge variety of musical influences.[/li][li]The Eels. The dark, clanging, melodic pop of Electro-Shock Blues is definitely worth checking out.[/li][li]The Beta Band. The 3 E.P.s is a techno-psychadelic masterpiece.[/li]The Revolting Cocks. If you like The Ministry, check out these guys. Al Jorgensun also played with this band. Their version of Rod Stewart’s Do You Think I’m Sexy blows the original out of the water.[/ul]

I second Big Black, considered by lots of folks (with the notable exception of Big Black themselves) to be some of the very first “industrial” music.
Also, Big Black frontman Steve Albini’s latest band, Shellac.
Cabaret Voltaire - electronic industrial-type music, circa 1980s. Considered to be one of the founders of the genre. Somewhat quirky, and a lot of talent. It’s the kind of music you’d expect at a rave, but it’s not chirpy and bland.
Einstürzende Neubauten - very esoteric, intellectual industrial. Exceedingly deep and layered material - almost nothing in their lyrics is meaningless, if you’re willing to look. They’ve done almost everything - performed plays, done commissioned work for movies and musicals, put up art installations. Wonderful stuff, leaving a wake of inflence miles long. They’re even better if you speak German, but they put out a lot of stuff in English as well.

are all bands I’m familiar with and like, more or less. I should mention that I’ve been a punk since “normal” people used to spit on us and that I’ve been into Goth since it was called “Deather”. Yeah, I’m 42 and my hair’s still dyed funny colours (blue-violet, currently).

gatopescado, heard 'em all except Mary Lou Lord and Patti Griffin. Tool’s OK and I saw Robert Cray live when they were just starting out. But my tastes run counter to yours, I suspect: I hate hippie/grunge music! No offense to you, either, but I’m looking for new or obscure music, not pop.
BTW: I saw both Bauhaus and Siouxsie on their most recent tours. Siouxsie was wonderful, but Bauhaus sucked rotten eggs. What a disappointment.
…Manu Chao? Different from the rest of the stuff you have, but not pop. Check it out.
if you want to hear something really novel, check out Death in June. They’re this odd goth-folk outfit…very soothing stuff
